Well, "sounds" pretty good....BUT we all know how badly EA has screwed up "baseball" (that's what TP was trying to portray wasn't it?) in the past. I'm gonna just wait and see how it is then we can compare it, of course there's no need to compare it to v5 cause v6 will be out soon.

I've got it narrowed down to this and ESPN. I've heard MVP's batter/pitcher interface is great, but ESPN is the best game all around.

Slugfesst

Slugfest from Midway, seems like an awesome game, It will have two types of game play, Arcade, and Pro "sim"

In Pro play, you will have a Franchise mode powered by Baseball Mogul's Financial Engine. Many Over at Sports Mogul think maybe Slugfest is going to be the next Baseball Mogul. You will beable to sim 150 years using Pro Play. This game will be availible in June and will only be played on X-BOX and PS2, i hope it will be on the Game Cube and PC soon!

Pick up ur lastest copy of Game Informer! It has many details inside!

Having BM as a part of Slugfest will probably be a nice addition, though BM isn't really "groundbreaking" since about v2 or so.

none of these console games will ever have the realism, depth or replay value of a pc game like ootp.

it's apples and oranges, folks. a game where you can alter a player's performance based on how well you hit a button should never be compared to a game based on algorithms.

I think we all know that , but some of us still like to play those 3D games. Remember we are all a bunch of kids here .

I am looking forward to checking out MVP 2004 but....

After years of table-top and animated computer sim play I must say that no matter how versatile, statistically accurate, or graphically breathtaking fully animated sims become , they will never be as immersive as table-top or text-based computer sims. Sounds kinda corny I know, but there is just no substitute for the imagination. In OOTP5 little things like logos, sound and pics inform the imagination, whereas in animated sims the computer just takes over. Can be fun for a while, but eventually it starts to feel like you're just sitting there watching a cartoon.

I'll still get MVP 2004 though, maybe they improved it some.

I may try ESPN, but I am still hooked on all of the features of All Star Baseball. But the game I really miss was the old Hardball series, that is before they killed it with the silly graphics.

ign usually has a good opinion, and they seem to lean MVP. And remember MVP2003 was a fresh game, Triple Play was scraped and MVP was born. Version 2 should be a lot better. We'll see eventually of course, but for now its MVP all of the way. I trust EA, plus being out earlier, playing with minor leaguers. I'm sold

MVP is getting all the hype, and that's what EA is famous for. I may be going with 989's MLB 2004 (or is it 2005?). From the videos I've seen, it does look pretty good, and as a bonus it actually has a 2-man franchise mode, which is what I'm looking for. I tried MVP last year and got tired of it in a hurry. Same with ESPN (WS2k3 last year). OOTP rocks of course, but it'd still be awesome to have an excellent graphical baseball game!

MVP should be much improved this year...and was better than Sega's game last season.
I liked Sega's game (now ESPN) well enough last year, but it had some serious issues...and from what I understand, most of them haven't been fixed.

Why does a damn yankee have to be on the cover of ESPN baseball? Should have been Pedro or Nomar, or even Schilling
