Talent Improvement
Does every talent improvement show up in the player development log?? Has anyone had improvements (overall like going from Average to good in homers) not show up? I don't mean manual improvements (user changes) because I don't think they ever show up, but rather natural (the computer changes) improvements.
Thanks Rigs |

Nope, every talent change will be on there. Actual rating changes are a different story.

Ok, are you sure you have never seen or heard about it?
If not then I will tell my story. I am in an online league that I really like and I made a trade with one of the commishes. I always keep an eye on players I trade and was happy to see that a great pitcher I traded had a ratings increase (not a big one, just and endurance boost). Imagine my surprise when I saw no mention of it in the player in the player in the player development log. I asked the other commish about it and he said he thought it was just a bug. The commish who I dealt with is a nice guy and works hard for the league. The increase showed up on BOSI after the fact. (I thought BOSI just kept track of things after the fact but hey what do I know) So I thought it was just a mistake. Now I have went back through the player development log for his team for the whole season and have found 2 other increases without mention in the player development log. They are not big increases (always small like endurance or improvement of a catcher's arm in the middle of the season). I didn't know that a catcher's arm could improve in the middle of a season?? I had never seen this. Now the big question, What do I do? I am just a regular owner who just likes to play. Thanks |

BOSI will capture every single ratings change (well, the non-hidden ones anyway) - the player development screen will not. There was a recent thread on this topic, a search should find it easily enough. I doubt anything underhanded is going on here, so don't worry about it.

Do endurance and catchers arm changes get logged, or just talent level changes? I never checked.

Thanks for the answer. BOSI will catch all the ratings changes (From good to brill etc.) while the player development will miss some of them. That works for me. I am glad that this is the case. I like the league and didn't want to make a big deal out of this. He seems like a good guy and the endurance increases/batting and catcher's arm increase really were nothing huge just minor improvements on 4 of his starters players.
My last question: If a rating was changed manually would it show up on BOSI and not the development page? I ask this because after comparing the development pages and BOSI development for some other teams I found no other discrepencies. |

I believe both pitcher endurance and catcher's arm are recorded on the Player Development report. I have not heard of a bug where they have not been.
I believe your assessment of the situation to be correct. |

Ok, there are some conflicting answers. My big question is "Does it sound like the guy is cheating?" I had never seen endurance/batting or fielding improvements not reported in the development log. That is why I am bringing this up. I have not mentioned this to other owners because I wanted to see if there has been a problem with the game or if it just misses a few improvements in the log.
I will not mention the Commish as I would not want to hurt anyones reputation. |

Here is what I know, Rigs.
Pitcher Duration is tracked on the report. I just looked at a league 86 games in and there are changes all over that place. I couldn't find any report of the catcher's arm rating changing. In fact, I didn't see anything where any arm rating changed. Either they don't change (this I believe) or they're not being reported. Unless there is a bug, then the pitcher's duration has been changed manually. There has been no bug reported. |

Rigs,
Just because the changes don't appear on the Development pages doesn't mean the commish is cheating. If you have multiple people simming for your league, it could be a case where the development pages are getting overwritten with old data thus "erasing" the player development note. I have never seen a case of player talent development (good to brilliant, etc) that did not show up on the report if this wasn't the case. |

Shane has a good point about simming on multiple machines. That is a possibility.
I guess I'm not the right person to listen to.

That is what I thought. I have never seen a catcher's arm improve in the middle of the season. The 3 other discrepencies is for a starter (a good one I traded) going from C to B endurance and his closer going from D to C. Finally the other guy I traded was a great defensive SS with huge speed. He is a .215 hitter with low hitting ratings and he had his doubles increase from Average to Good. None of these changes showed up in the development log.
If it was changed manually it would still show up as an increase in the BOSI right? But not show up in the development log. BOSI gets the information after the fact and just logs the games changes (manual or computer) the same right? Thanks |

There are 2 commishes so that is a possibility. Wouldn't it erase other teams also?
Do I have to go and compare every team to BOSI? |

Yes, BOSI tracks everything after the fact. So it will show things that are not on the log. However, talent bumps always show on the log. If you see a SS who went from avg to good in doubles and it is not on his development log in OOTP. Then my guess is it is time to ask some hard questions about the league.

We do have 2 commishes but the one I am talking about does most of the simming during the season and the other one takes care of most of the offseason stuff. I guess it is time to talk to the other guy again.
Everyone who want to give an opinion on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks Last edited by Rigs; 02-26-2004 at 03:07 PM. |

In order to check this, try to find another team that had player talent development on that day (using BOSI), they should also be missing mention of them on the OOTP development report that day.

I just did that but the player from the other team showed up in the OOTP Development log and BOSI, while the Commish's player only showed up on BOSI.

I smell foul play here.

He actually has another guy who lost ratings on the same day that showed up on the OOTP Development log and BOSI but the Starting pitcher who got the endurance boost from C to B did not show up in the development log and only showed up on BOSI.
I think I may be seeing the light!! |
