Starting a league
Does anyone out there have a suggestion for a free web host that works well with the demands of running an OOTP league (ie php, mysql)?

A data driven web site for free? I don't think so.

If you want a data driven web site, yes.

Sorry. You mentioned you wanted a php/mysql web site. This is data driven (database connectivity)

Yeah I only said I wanted those things because I've been told that php nuke is a simple building program, and mysql is what is needed to run a message board.

What all would I need from a site inorder to run an OOTP league besides php and mysql? Also what kind of space and bandwidth requirements do people usually need?

If you are looking for cheap hosting that fills your needs, you might want to check out SiteFlip's specials through findmyhosting.com.
Can get 500 MB disk space, 5 GB transfer. Unlimited Email addresses, unlimited MySql databases, PHP, CpanelX, etc.... I have been using since September with only a couple downtimes here and there. You can get that package for $23.40 for a year, which breaks down to under 2 bucks a month. You won't get the uptime guarantee or hands on support you get from CommishJoe or anything, but if your pinching pennies, it is the best plan I can find for that price. |

Only bummer about findmyhosting.com is they aren't accepting new hosting companies. I applied about a month ago and still nothing.
So, who knows what other companies are left out of the loop. I'll keep trying though

Brinkster.com is free, but limiting.
Though you'll need to know your PHP, or have someone who can program the site. |

That's true, Joe.
I've never used PHP Nuke, and I've only used brinkster to test static (HTML/CSS) sites because I don't mess with any databases.

That site has free hosting as well as paid hosting. I'm pretty sure that's what you're looking for. That's what i use for my league. |
