Public beta 1.1.8 uploaded!

Dear TBCB fans,

I've just uploaded the TB 1.1.8 public beta setup file. Following changes and additions have been made:

- Fixed a bug in the "Import fighter from file" function which caused crashes sometimes
- Fixed a bug that caused the program to display "Missing Commentary Class" error messages after updating the commentary database files
- Added score cards to the bout log HTML files
- Date remains sticky between sessions now
- Added a setting to determine whether the game asks for a date at startup
- Fixed some minor stuff

The patch comes as a setup file again. It will install new commentary databases to the /data/default folder. It will also copy the latest fighter.dat file to the /data/default folder. But it will not overwrite the files in your own data folders.

The patch file will overwrite some template files, so if you made changes to the TB template files (folder /Templates) be sure to make backups.

Also, since this is a public beta, be sure to make backups of your data folders before you install the patch. If any problems occur, just restore the saved folders. TB will copy and convert all files automatically as needed, so the whole process is pretty easy: just make backups, download the patch, start it, choose to install the files into your Title Bout Championship Boxing program folder, and start the game. No need to uninstall or unlicense anything.

I downloaded and installed the new TB1.1.8, and it appears to me that everything installed OK. But it still says 1.1.7 on the opening mainscreen.

Oh ****, the installation program seems to have a "bug": when you choose the TB program folder as the path into which the patch shall be installed, the setup program will add "/Title Bout Championship Boxing" to it. You can edit it in the text box where the path is displayed before you click on OK. The version number displayed in the main menu has to be 1.1.8.

I am a little confused, The Verison is supposed to 1.1.8 but yet when downloaded it says its 1.2. I am not sure where you can adjust it to 1.1.8 in a dialog box.

These beta tests we are doing are great, but not everyone wants things to go wrong in there own TBCB. Lets not forget that some people know nothing about changing files, paths etc etc.

For those people the official download needs to be updated as well as an official patch to be put on the download page for them.

Don't get this wrong because i feel the beta testing on the public boards is 100% the correct route to take.

I went ahead and installed it I never saw any dialog box to change to 1.1.8 and when I go into the game it does say 1.1.7.
Any help here would be great. Not sure what real difference that will make?

I have the same problem with 1.1.8 that I had with 1.1.7. Tb1.exe has encountered a serious error and must shut down. I was wondering if you made any progress on the problem.

Make sure it is installing to the correct directory. Instead of accepting what it offered since Andreas said there was a typo in that, I browsed for my TBCB folder. It installed and when I start up I have 1.1.8. Check your OOTP directory, you probably have 2 TBCB directories now, and need to move over the files from the new directory into your TBCB directory.

Mine is still saying 1.1.7 -- I installed it three times and then I installed it to a dummy directory and then I manually copied the new files over. I replaced files that were the exact same date and the exact same size as each other so I know I'd been installing correctly.

Everything seems to work just fine, except It shows to be version 1.1.7. Very strange. I always keep my sims at the top of the WIN explorer tree. I never bury them inside Program Files.

The first time i tried to install the 1.1.8 patch it would not take.

So this time i went on line and let it open from there.

No problems my game now shows it as 1.1.8

Well I just had a real scare! My entire HW_Legends database was wiped out! Over 100 hours of work -- gone!

But, hey I got backups amd more backups. So I renamed the active HW_Legends database to old_HW_Legends and then I copied over the backup I did this afternoon. Still everything gone!

I calmly uninstalled the program and then re-installed. HW_Legends database came up but it was all trash. Again, everything gone. I then re-installed the program and then the 1.1.8 patch and the database came back OK.

BUT >>> it still says version 1.1.7 ??????

I'm at a lost to understand it. I never installed the 1.1.7 patch so how does it come up with 1.1.7????? Very strange. Must be a "registry" problem.

Everything seems to be OK and my database seems to be OK too.

I had trouble installing this update. But it now seems to have installed correctly, at least to the point of the game opening and showing 1.1.8. But at the completion of fights I get the following message....

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program:...Park Developments\Title Bout Championship Boxing\TB1.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate itself in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information.

I have had little to no problems running the game before this patch.

My TBCB directory looks fine. I also tried downloading to a temp folder and manually installing patch. Same old problem. I hope Andreas figures something out.

When you uninstall the game in the normal way not every thing in the game comes off.
If you want a clean install that's what i wanted, after you have finished the un installing the game

You need to go to *program files* then delete the Out Of The Park Folder which still contains a lot of folders and files.
Also on winXP go to *start* *All Programs* then look for again Out of the Park. Delete that also

You license is still left on the computer so don't panic LOL
that's how got my 1.1. 8

Just had a complete freeze up with the game. Had to use the task manager to kill it.

Was setting up a title match. I designated the champ defending champion, and made the challenger the hometown favourite. I chose a Phillipines venue (since my challenger is from there) and that was it. Game totally froze.

Only thing I did was clipped the damn windows key and opened the start menu. Surely that didn't freeze it?

Regardless, really hoping all my work I just did isn't screwed. Figured I'd better post since whatever triggered the crash was a total showstopper.

Just retried the match and everything worked fine this time.

Maybe the windows key (damn thing should be ripped off the keyboard) caused an issue?

Incidentally I had 1.18 show up just fine for the version number. Installed the patch, deleted the add "title bout championship boxing" part it puts after the directory and that was that.
