Question Do you use Manager Mode?

Do you use Manager Mode? If so what are your thoughts about it?

Aside from having a family, not being able to edit players ratings (unless you use the disable MM program), and the chance of getting fired does Manager Mode do anything? Does it make the game harder by making the computer a better manager, trader, team builder, etc?

I have found that MM actually makes the game easier. If I don't use MM then I can tweak the computer teams from time to time to make sure they are playing their best guys. I can make a trade or two for them to help them make a playoff run, fill a hole, or build for the future. In MM you can't do much of that and the computer doesn't manage the teams very well.

Just looking for some feedback and fresh points of view!!

Thanks!

I used MM when the game first came out. It's a nice feature but I got real pi$$ed when I was fired and had to get used to a new team. I played the league for awhile but I really missed my hometown team. I may try it again someday.

I pretty much only use MM, except when I'm making changes to my on-line league team. I don't have tons of free time to play around with all the little things OOTP has to offer, so I'm content to try and take a lousy team and make it in to a winner.

I love manager mode, it's a whole new aspect for me and I am hooked. Also, I think not fiddling with other teams mimics real life

Managers mode is what now makes this game as great as it is....it's been a long time coming and I'm sure will only improve with future releases....

Kind of the same thing for me. But, I would love to go to back to MM, if it gets a little more in depth.

I use it only. I Like the realism of being fired, although it sucks when it happens :P

i use manager mode. adjust the difficulty and don't forget the trading difficulty also.

and if you want more challenge set league trading level to high also. that way teams trade between themselves but in order to make a trade you have to take it in the shorts

I use MM and I too am hooked. I like taking a last place team and building them up, unless of course I don't do it fast enough and I get fired first. But the best part about MM is not being able to change the computer teams at all.

Now if OOTP6 will just have unique computer managers that have tendencies of their own and unique owners that have different strategies, that would be the best.

heh...I like that too.

I just started using MM, but the reason that I never used it before is because I hate having to resign coaches and scouts. I always tend to overpay them.

Haven't yet used the manager mode. I'm new to this game with OOTP5 so I'm very happy just doing things with historical leagues for now. Although I am interested in MM I couldn't care less about a manager's personal life.

I jumped on it when I got OOTP5. Now I don't use it anymore. At all. I don't think I ever will again.

I still use it, but it's really unfortunate when you get a horror-rated owner. With the 2005 Cubs, my owner demanded a .500+ season and I was something like 31-49 when I realized it's time to do something. So I traded a ton of prospects for a several high paid players like Pudge, Kevin Millar, and Adam Wainright who finished the season with over 300 strikeouts. I figured heck, if I get fired, the Cubs are screwed with a huge payroll, and if I get resigned, I will figure some way out of the hole. I managed to finish 80-82 and get a 1 year extension

Looks about 50-50 on the subject. I can understand the added challenge of taking a bad team with a horror owner and not getting fired but beyond that I am not sure.

I feel the game is more difficult to win when you have full access to the other teams and can make sure they are playing their best players, resigning their best stars, drafting the best guys, making sure they make that last minute trade to help in the playoffs, etc

Keep the ideas coming!
