But I hope if this is the last year of hh baseball like I think it will be that maybe one day someone will come out will a utility or build it into the the game so that us guys who love the ootp but also love to play it on the field to could be satisfied. I dont want markus to sign his game to a big company to produce a arcade game. but I would love it and pay 30 dollars just for the utility to be able to run the franchise in ootp but play arcade style games in hh.(since thats all hh is good for)
just a thought will it happen NO but just a thought. Matt

I Will have more people disagree with me, but arcade games suck! Please improve the game with detail, but avoid graphics, sound, and any other playstation, nintendo sega bull****. I hate the graphics games that every other hit is a homerun and it takes 45 minutes to play out a game, but of course if you only sim I am sure that graphics rule. I myself will buy this game as long as it is a text based game, once it goes further will be happy that I own the last great sim game on the market.

I like OOTP just the way it is now, a text sim. I don't want any 3D graphics or Arcade gameplay. That is what my PS2 is for.

What I am saying is just would be nice to have it as an option. I mean I dont want ootp4 to consit of an arcade game. What I mean is if Markus made a utility for the people who love his game but also love to play each of there games arcade style he would add another 5 to 10,000 sold copies. What i would love to see is it as a add on utility just like you play a online game now you export the file then import it back just instead export it to hh and then import it back. I never want to see the actuall shell or whole of the game changed with sound, 3d graphics or any of that.

I'm not for adding fancy 3D graphics to OOTP, but what I would be interested in seeing is the option to add sound files to the in-game play (crack of the bat, fluctuating crowd noise, vendors, music, etc.).
And, I realize I'll be in the minority on this one, but I think even adding the graphics (as an option) of the old FPS Baseball '94 would be a lot of fun. Those little players had a lot of frames of animation to them, and I loved how they dived for balls and leaped for catches. Steve |

Pastime thats what I mean
Yeah even good old fps baseball would be fine just something to play every now and then to kinda feel out your team. I only say use hh since it has a better pure baseball game than fps but I would be for either of those. Matt

I would personally like to have graphics if the game could still maintain its statistical integrity. I wouldn't suggest making it an "arcade game" where you can actually take control of the players, since that would pretty much throw the statistical accuracy out the window (remember when you bat for players, you are now using "your" ability at the plate, "your" decisions and instincts, "your" eye and discipline). So I would prefer a manage-only graphical game, this also gives you more flexibility on the camera angles you can use.

yeah FPS style graphics would be awesome for OOTP. no need for arcade at all, just little dudes acting out the play by play.

I agree with OOTP rocks, if graphics were added it would have to be so you could watch the games, not play in them. Once you take control of the players all statistical integrity goes out the window. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy belting a homer on my x-box now and again. However, OOTP is a simulation with great statistical accuracy and it should remain as such

I think OOTP is just fine the way it is. It doesn't need to be turned into or merged with a 3D arcade game. That's why there's High Heat.
I personanly love both games, OOTP gives me my fix for the financial and career aspect of a game, and High Heat let's me get down and dirty when I want to play an arcade game of baseball. There's more than enough room for both game's, and I hope this isn't the last year for High Heat. |

I think OOTP should have had pictures for fictional players. It would be cool if in the PbP we could have a live action sequence showing the play (i.e. "Carl Porcaro grounds out to third" would show a guy throwing a fielded ground ball from third base to first to nail the guy out.) I dunno...just an idea.

Not that I am comparing the (2) sims, but I like how Puresim has a graphic (actually a line drawn) showing you where the ball went in the field. That would be kind of nice to see. It would also make it easier to decide to send the runner or not on a hit to the OF.

Ok 1st before I say this, I tried this last year and it was a Disaster I got talked to by Steve for maybe breaking OOTP License Agreement, Then when I went to the HH forums for help nobody thought it could be done so after spending 3 weeks and pretty much figuring out both databases I stoped. This year though I really want to make it happen. Let me 1st say that this project isnt even off the ground just on paper, and also let me state if it was ever sold the money would go to Markus and if he wouldnt accept it I would purchase extra copies ootp.
Here is the Idea ( know remember this is not for just us here at the OOTP board it is also for all the dissapointed HH players) If you like both games and love OOTP. This is the Program for you Imagine this. Playing all 162 games( or just the games you feel like button mashing)With HH 2k3 but then right after the game is done just importing that game into your regular OOTP baseball career. All stats would be just as accurate if you played it in ootp, all news articles would still work. Players would still get hurt, get hot get cold. Ok so here is a rough step by step Idea Step 1)create a OOTP internet league Step 2)now min the game and load the program and create a new league ( this will write a hh sea file from the ootp league you just created Step 2)start the league in ootp Step 3)when its your turn to play your game min then load the program Step 4)in the program load the league you created in step 2 and click refresh( this will refresh the league and update the rosters injuried standings, stats, and schedule for the next game step 5) Click play game it will lauch HH with OOTP min and the other program still running step 6) In HH load the league you created in step 2 Step 7) go to schedule and play the game just as you would if it where a hh league step 8) at the end of the game save the league and exit hh step 9) now click create import file step 10) open ootp back up and click import and it will import the game At this time you will not have 1) a OOTP LOG 2) a OOTP Boxscore but you will have when you click box in ootp a HH boxscore file with a game log in it This is the main Idea, I am still testing this on paper and by manual hex imput. It works my goal is to make is as seamless as possible. I feel since HH is just about gone save the best attribute they have and thats the gameplay. Just so you know I dont know about selling it cause licensing issues but the way I look at it someone is going to be mad at me weather I sell it or not so I might as well sell it for 5 bucks then every 6 sold by a copy of ootp4. Please give me some opinions on this, Thanks Matt

Is there anyway we could combine OOTP4 with the "Duke Nuke'Em" series? Sometimes when my relief corps blows 6 straight games I need to get some aggression out.

"Damm everytime I try to do this all I get is negative comments, I would like to know why this is?"
Because most of the OOTP community gets this game for the realism in the statistics and feels that if Markus puts more time in graphics and everything, that the realism of the game won't be as strong. I, and obviously other people, would rather a stat filled game with no pictures then a game that puts more emphasis on action then simulation. Basically most OOTPers feel that there is no need for graphics in the game. Jared |
