Contraction
Has anyone ever contracted teams? I was considering dropping a few squads after next season but hadn't given it much thought as to what to do with their players. The teams are traditionly the worst in their respective conferences so there is limited talent to even worry about.
Make 'em all FA? Contraction draft?

When you contract the teams, their players and coaches/scouts (if enabled) are automatically dumped into the FA pool. From there it's up to you what you do with them.
I've done a few contractions and then signed the best players to the worst teams that were left. Helps create a little balance. |

I've contracted twice. This isn't you're question, but beware: The team numbers will change, will will screw with your team histories, etc. You may have to change the names of some text files to fix it.

If you follow the Expansion FAQ on this board in terms of the timing of your Contraction, then you should be able to avoid the problems with team ID numbers changing and the resulting errors in team history.
