Another Cato Question

This may have been addressed already, but is there a checklist for moving from one year to the next with this utility.

I assume everything is kept in your database and you only have to add the most current year to and update everything again...

Are there any files that should be kept as back-up....

If this does not make sense please feel free to ask any questions...

Thanks for any help.

To be honest, I'd keep all the csv exports and the other files you need as backup every season in case something were to become corrupt in the database (I just zip everything up as save it in a file called 2010.zip, 2011.zip, etc).

But, with that being said, no, you don't HAVE to keep anything as backup as everything is kept in the database.

Yep... just import the stats, all stars and award winners and everything will update automatically.

One more question, from one season to the next I assume you point the html file option to the most recent year (ie the diretcory where these files are)....

I keep a backup of everything. You never know what info you might need. Plus if the utility should crash, i can just go back to the season before.

Not backing up every year is a big mistake in my opinion.
If you play 100 years you might run into an error at least once.

Not that the program is bad but i think Cato just got too busy
to finish fixing some of the problems with the newest version.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking?

You should just be importing as normal... what exactly are you doing? And what error are you getting?

just from one year to the next... 2003 to 2004... do I have to put my html files in the same palce all the time, or just point to the directory... I have cerated the csv files for each...

somewhere i read you only have to do the career exporter once.. (i did it each year by accident).... does this make a difference....

Yes you should only do career exporter the first year.
The way i do it is i just use the League site folder the game creates.

I think you just have to point it to the directory.

The only thing in the History utility i change is the League directory under options.

I just copy the files the exporter made from the temp folder to the data folder and then i import stats and then make the html files.

Having another problem... When I try to add another year and the start of season/end of season date is prompted, it still says it is 2003 (which is what my first year)... It also duplicates the team abbreviatiosn, which causes another error...

Just wodnering again, do I have to keep the HTML files (from OOTP5) after I created a history... or can I just store them in a temp file for future....

There has to be a simple way to import the data... Can anyone give me a step-by-step instrution on what to do from year to year (files/diretories to use)... I get one season no problem... it's in putting the second one that is causing me all kinds of trouble...

You can only import each season once.

Just repeat the same steps for the second season.

For the second season my steps are as follows:

Export .html
Export the .csv files
Put the files whereever you want to import them from.
Open the OOTP History file.
Select the database you want.
Go to Options, make sure you are pointing towards the directories with the .html and .csv files.
Then press the import season button.

Just as easy as that.

Thanks.. I am doing exactly that, but I still seem to be getting an error...

When the prompt appears to enter start/finish date of season it still says 2003 (which was my first), shoud it not read 2004 (which is my 2nd year)....

Thanks for any response.
