NGBL Opening
The "Next Generation Baseball League " was formed under the concept of owners picking current teams and then simulating 10 years into the future to give the league a fictional feel, yet also preserving the MLB roots. Over a calendar year and 5 seasons have now passed since the inception of the league and the fictional players are almost in full swing giving the league it's own unique personality. We have since expanded to 32 teams and continue to make changes(must be put to ownership vote) to improve the league. The league features a mature ownership base that is also not afraid to let lose and have alot of fun.
The teams availiable are the Tigers and Orioles, both owners were replaced due to inactivity. I will go into some more detail about the teams and league with a future update, but my time is limited at the moment. I did want to get this out here with free agency beginning this Sunday evening, so forgive me for any details I have left out. The rules page is up to date and should include most information you need to know. Simulations are ran overnight on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so 3 days a week you will have something to look over with your morning coffee. Some Features: - NEW! A league member (John Frey) has been working on what I believe to be the most comprehensive and best OOTP league website I have ever seen. Much of this was accomplished by applying CommishJoe's BOSI utility in a differant manner, so would like to give him a thanks. This is nearing completion and should be ready to roll with the coming season. - NEW! All players 3.5 stars or greater with minimal loyalty will be exposed to a "restricted free agency" type process. These players will be exposed to open bidding, but the current team will also be given a chance to match the winning contract. For anyone tired of leagues that don't have elite players hitting the market should find this very appealing. - Marketing revenue split equally among the leagues 32 teams. - $80 million dollar cap, $25 million cash max - Coaches/Scouts off - BOSI - Contract extension negotiations are done live, and an owner is allowed to keep bidding even after a player is angry. If your interested or have any questions I can be contacted via email at clarnzz@hotmail.com or via AIM at screename: Clarnzz. Edited to remove a link to the new website preview. (Just have to take my word for it for now.) Last edited by clarnzz; 01-01-2004 at 07:43 PM. |

The Tigers are a team that has struggled to find an identity ever since the original owner chose to take over an expansion team 2 seasons ago. The team then hired a new general manager who had some issues arise in "real life" that eventually sapped his ability to run the team completely. And here is also a link to their current clubhouse. No, Jose Segovia's 96 stolen bases last season is not an error. Segovia and Jose Herrera are the cornerstone's of the team's offense. Pitching is the team's weakness as some bad development luck has hit a couple of their former aces, but the team currently has 20 million in cap room availiable and will free up another 10 million when Adam Dunn leaves after this season. With the league's new process opening up bidding on many superstar player's, this space could go a long way towards moving this team forward.
The Orioles are another team that hasn't received much attention, but has some very nice pieces already in place. Here is the link to their current clubhouse. This team's prospect list doesn't look particularly appealing given their last place finish last season, but they some key pieces in place already on the big league club. Catcher Grant Fabiano, 2b Heriberto Delariva, and SP Joel Depalma give the team a nice core of players to build around. The team features a league low 23 million dollar payroll which means an owner would have a great amount of flexibility to mold the team as they see fit. Keep in mind with the new NGBL free agency rules there will be superstar players availiable to spend this free money on. If you are looking to test your abilities against some of the best owners around you will find the competition and activity of this league's owners to be top of the line. Hope to be hearing from you soon, "newbies" are also welcome as there are many experienced and knowledable league members willing to help you find your bearings in the online transition. Edited to remove links to the future leaguesite. Last edited by clarnzz; 01-01-2004 at 07:44 PM. |

I really recommend this league to anyone who wants to be part of a great on-line league. It is very well run by Clarnzz and there is a bunch of great owners who like to have fun but also take their job seriously.

I saw a preview of the website. The thing is awesome. To steal a line from Boiler Room - it isn't going to be an alternative - it's going to be the standard.

The Tigers have now also been filled. Thanks to anyone who was interested. If you are looking for a league, keep us in mind as the offseason may prove to have another opening.

Just a quick note to let all of you who have been anxiously waiting for the new web site (*crickets chirping*), it can now be seen live at:
http://ngbl.net/ One of the league owners, John Frey, has created what I think is the best OOTP website out there. Last edited by pallison14; 01-08-2004 at 03:47 AM. |

He's now even added the league development page. Just when you think it can't get any better. Awesome job John.

Sortable stats now live: http://dotcomma.net/ngbl/leagueplayerstats.php You can select up to the previous 3 seasons, to boot! John is now listed as a beneficiary in my last will and testament, btw. |
