Can anyone respond to this question?

Why are all batters talent ratings baselined at fair or poor including the best HR hitters in the game? Hits begin with good.

has anyone figured out yet a "work-around" to get the stats to work starting a 2004 season?

The ONLY way I can figure out to do it, is to:
#1 copy this file over current lahman
#2 import a historic league
#3 Take your first imported season (players with 2004 stats) and overwrite your players.dat file in the /create folder
#4 start another new league (custom league, starting in 2004, use "default" players...this will throw all of the players from '04 into a draft pool)
#5 use pierre's career stat editor to update EVERY players stats from 2004.
#6 draft players on their current team
#7 update ratings, contracts, etc to reflect reality.

BINGO!

This whole process may take someone several weeks to do. What I DONT understand is players HAVE 2003 stats in the draft pool, but when you look at thier "player card" view, the 2003 line on career stats is completely skipped.

Anyone have ANYTHING that will work? Start a 2004 season with mlb 2003 stats????? (* besides the method I posted!!!!! *)

What I did was a 1 round draft and then I just went through and signed players team by team.

EDIT: I thought this worked, but aparently not.

nope...
BUT....

I am in the process of entering ALL 2003 player stats via Pierre Career editor.

This will give everyone a 2004 roster set, WITH '03 stats, AND starting in 2004.

I have no timetable on when this will be completed, but will updated everyone soon on my progress. This is something I am doing in my free time, so bare with me. Working full time and attending school full time leaves me very little free time!

So far, I've entered every hitting stat for 2003 American League players...I am currently entering stats for hitters in the National League.

After the hitting stats are completed, I will tackle pitching stats.

I plan to build over the next few months a roster set before opening day including updated ratings, minors, finances, current salaries, etc.

Wish me luck!!!

*UPDATE*

Hey gang,

I have ALL hitting stats for 2003 MLB batters entered into the game. I am now starting to enter pitching stats. This project is long from over; all players are currently in a free agent pool and still need to be assigned to their current team. Once the pitching stats are entered, I will let everyone know.

*UPDATE*

Hey gang,

AL pitching stats are complete.

NL pitching stats are up next. After all hitting/pitching stats are entered, I will send the file to JoeRockEHF's site. I encourage everyone to check the file for any statistical mistakes on my part. Typing in over 2,000+ stat lines I might have made some errors!

The first release (1.0)will:
Have all 2003 stats updated for MLB players, and start in 2004. Currently, all players are in a draft pool, so a future release will have teams current 40-man rosters.

When the NL stats are done, I will send the file to JoeRockEHF.

I will update everyone on this progress! I expect NL pitching stats to be completed sometime this week.

Will this roster set have any minor league players? Also, is it like Rocco's roster packs? Like will I just unzip into a league folder and then be able to find all the players? Thanks.

Version 1.0 of the file will only contain any player who had at least 1 At Bat or pitched in 0.1 Innings during the 2003 season.
