Talking Phillies Phans?

Why does it seem that every person who posts on these boards is a Phillies fan? Does this seem like a statistical anomaly to anyone else? I mean doesn't it seem unrealistic that all twelve Phillies fans in existance ALL play OOTP4 and post on these boards?

By the way, I'm a Cubs fan until the day I die. And, yes, I realize I will probably never see a championship in my lifetime...

Gotta love it, and we have seen a Championship in our lifetimes. And it will happen again soon too. Go Phillies.

Yes I am a Phillies fan too...I live in Detroit and the Tigers are #1 for me....but when me and my brothers were young we all adopted N.L. teams and mine was the Phillies...That was like 1978..and I still to this day love the Phillies...Thats my team away from my team..and since the Tigers sorta stink real bad....The Phillies are a team on the rise...Go Phils

I'm also a Phils fan, though I was too young to remember World Series in 1980. Hopefully we'll get another one soon. But until then, at least I can see them win a ootp championship

Go Phils!

Grew up in Allentown PA, an hour north of Philadelphia. My brother and father were Phillies fans, I chose the dreaded Yankees. This was back in 1976, when both teams were winning a couple division titles. One of the few times I rooted for the Phillies was when they played Baltimore in the 1983 series. 1980 was a fun year because my brother's favorite player was Mike Schmidt and mine was George Brett (not sure how), and we taunted each other over who was the better third sacker. I admit, it was Schmidt, but I never would have told him that. I can't remember whether 1980 was the year Brett got hemmorhoids and had to miss some playing time.

Anyway, during the mid 80s and most of the 90s, my Dad had a saying he always liked to use: "This year the Phillies are only three years away from being three years away".

Two more quick Phillies memories - Garry Maddox's afro in the mid-70s was amazing (along with his brother Elliott's - I think the 1975 Topps card had him with a huge 'fro and a little ballcap perched on top). Also, I had the pleasure of meeting Richie Ashburn (the year before he passed away) at a spring training game, where he autographed a copy of a book about the 1950 NL champion Phillies. Very cool.

Chris

But I have news for you phillies and braves fans, METS WILL WIN THE EAST! GO MO!

I may be one of those dozen Phillies fans... but at least I've been one since the Tug McGraw, Greg Luzinski, Bake McBride kinda days. No bandwagon jumping America's team BS here.

Go Phils

Add me to the list of lifelong Phillies fan too.

Its just a damn shame when the baseball team in the fifth largest market in the US (and a pretty good sports town) can't find the funds to sign one big name free agent once in a while. I'm not saying they should be like the Yankees, but we're still waiting for them to replace Schilling with a legitimate ace. And I don't even want to think about what's gonna happen when Rolen leaves. Dave Hollins at third maybe...

I just hope when the new stadium opens, the owners sell to someone or some corp. with deep pockets.

Funny, I have thought the same thing from time to time and actually believed that maybe the Phillies fans were just the ones with the biggest mouths (fastest fingers?) , but then it was hard to justify that thought process with so many NYers in the community...lol

can you guess that I'm a RedSox fan (and Braves as I have lived in Atlanta for 12 years now)...

Born and raised in the Northeastern suburbs. Now I'm in Wisconsin. What a great day it was when the Brewers moved to the NL, so now the Phils visit each year.

The scary thing is, there might be more Phillies' fans here then show up at the Vet.

I was too young to remember 1980, and just about had a heart attack in 1993, but I'll stick with them. (besides, who am I going to root for . . . the Brewers?)

Another Phillies fan checking in. Earliest memories go back to the mid-70's and the golden age of Phillies basbeall. I've also got the scars to prove that I've suffered through the bad times. Bob Dernier, Steve Jeltz, Juan Samuel, Rick Schu, Lance Parrish, Von Hayes, Lenny Dykstra, and Curt Schilling still occasionally visit me in my dreams (or nightmares).

Here's hoping for a successful 2002 Phillies season. Can't wait to beat those Braves and Mets!
