How to delete a single team's history?

Let's say I take control of the Mets. I move them to a new city and I want to start from scratch and erase their entire history. What's the easiest way to do so?

I've tried deleting their historical team ID but that does not work. The actual team ID appears to be hardcoded and I haven't found any related items when digging through files. At least, those that can be read in Notepad+. I know it's possible, but how?

Are you leaving their minor league teams alone?

I would just create a new team, move all of the players/coaches over to it, assign the minor league teams to it, then delete the Mets team.

Oh come on, the Mets aren't doing THAT badly...

I don't think you have to delete the Mets (in case you want to come back to them). Just replace their team ID in the schedule with the new one and nerf their financial ability to sign anyone, and you can keep the Mets' history intact.
