Here's an odd one. Negro Leaguer Raul Navarro (navarra01 / navarr002rau) is listed on the Master.csv with a birth year of 1923. He is also listed with a death year of 1921, which actually was his birth year. I suspect a database update glitch.

Issue summary:
When using real historical transactions in a 1977 Historical Replay Mode league, players involved in historical trades and purchases are temporarily assigned to their new team and then immediately released. They end up listed as “No Team” with no contract.

This is reproducible in multiple completely new historical leagues and appears to affect league-wide historical transactions, not only the Toronto Blue Jays.

Severity:
Game-breaking for historical replay mode.

I am attempting a 1977-to-present historical replay in which:
- Real historical transactions are enabled.
- Real historical IL transactions are enabled.
- Real historical lineups are disabled so I can manage lineups myself.
- Player ratings recalculate yearly from real statistics.
- Players retire and miss seasons according to history.
- Financials and normal trading are disabled automatically by the historical transaction setting.

The historical transactions are being recognized and triggered on the correct date, but the players are then immediately released instead of remaining with the destination team.

Reproduction steps:
1. Start a brand-new Historical League.
2. Select the 1977 season.
3. Choose Replay Mode.
4. Enable “Use real historical transactions.”
5. Enable “Use real IL transactions.”
6. Disable “Use real historical lineups.”
7. Use 1-year historical ratings recalc.
8. Select the Toronto Blue Jays.
9. Simulate through May 9, 1977.
10. Open the historical transaction message for Roy Howell.
11. Open Roy Howell’s player profile and history.

Actual result:
On May 9, 1977, the news message says:

Players received:
Received 3B R. Howell (signed FA).

Players lost:
Released Roy Howell.

Roy Howell’s player history then says:

“05/09/1977: Added to Toronto Blue Jays (Historical Transaction) ... Was released by TOR.”

His player page lists:
- Team: No Team
- No contract

Expected result:
Roy Howell should be transferred from the Texas Rangers to the Toronto Blue Jays and remain on Toronto’s roster.

In real life, Toronto acquired Roy Howell from Texas on May 9, 1977, and he played the remainder of the 1977 season for Toronto. He should not be released or become an unsigned player.

Other confirmed examples:
The same behaviour occurred with multiple players in my first save:

- Roy Howell — became No Team after his May 1977 trade to Toronto.
- Jim Mason — became No Team instead of going from Toronto to Texas in the Roy Howell trade.
- Steve Hargan — became No Team instead of going from Toronto to Texas in the Roy Howell trade.
- Doug Rader — became No Team after the June 8, 1977 historical acquisition by Toronto.
- Mike Jorgensen — became No Team after a separate 1977 historical transaction involving other teams.

This suggests the issue affects historical trades and purchases throughout the league. It appears that players are removed from their old organization, briefly added to the new organization, and then immediately released.

Reproducibility:
100% so far.

I first encountered the problem in a save that had reached June 1977. I then created a completely new historical league from scratch, carefully checked all settings, and reproduced the exact same issue on May 9 with Roy Howell.

Relevant league settings:
- Use real historical transactions: ON
- Use real IL transactions: ON
- Use real historical lineups: OFF
- Automatically import historical rookies: ON
- Import and maintain real minor leagues: ON
- Automatically expand league: ON
- Recalculate ratings after each year: ON
- Recalculate potential ratings after each year: ON
- Ratings recalc base: 1 year
- Double weight of current-year stats: ON
- Use historical splits: ON
- Retire players according to history: ON
- Players miss seasons according to history: ON
- Financial system: OFF
- Trading: OFF
- Amateur draft: OFF
- Scouting: OFF
- Commissioner mode: ON
- Active roster size: 25
- There were multiple open roster spots when Roy Howell was processed, so this was not caused by a full roster.

Database information:
The save is using the default OOTP 27 historical database path under:
Out of the Park Baseball 27\data\stats

The database page shows the game database as loaded correctly.

Additional observations:
The wording “signed FA” is incorrect for Roy Howell’s acquisition. He was acquired in a trade from Texas, not signed as a free agent.

The historical transaction itself appears to fire on the correct date, and the player history confirms that he was briefly added to Toronto. The failure happens immediately afterward when the game releases him.

The same type of failure happened on both sides of the Howell trade, because Roy Howell, Jim Mason and Steve Hargan all ended up unattached rather than with their correct destination clubs.

Impact:
This makes a long-term historical replay unusable because every team gradually loses historically traded players. Rosters, pennant races and future seasons become historically inaccurate.

Save file:
I have a save dated May 10, 1977, immediately after the Roy Howell transaction. The bug has already occurred and is visible in:
- Roy Howell’s team status
- Roy Howell’s player history
- The Player Transaction News message

If you create a CAREER league in 1977, both Willie Horton and Steve Foucault are on the Tigers opening day roster.

A couple of Ray(mond) Smith's appear to be merged. The Catcher from the 80s (smithra01; smith-003ray) imported with his stats, plus the addition of 1950 pitcher Raymond Smith (smith-001ray). There is also a stat line from 1892 for the team "PFC." I couldn't identify the player or ID that line should belong to.

Catcher Ray imported with all the sets of stats (in a 1976 end of year draft import), and in different league the Pitcher Raymond imported a few years ago (probably in a different version of the game).
