Team abbreviation question

Playing historical, and the Milwaukee Brewers are represented as “ML4”. If I were to change this to “MIL”, would this have any negative effects, for instance on team assignments for incoming players in future seasons?

On the team Settings panel, there are three fields that seem similar:

Abbreviation - cosmetic, appears on leaderboards, player stats lines, etc.; you can change this

Historical Team ID - used for incoming players, transactions, etc.; don't change it

Historical Franchise ID - ties each of a team's seasons to the franchise throughout relocations, nickname changes... i.e., "Boston > Milwaukee > Atlanta"... don't change it

Two caveats:

1. Any change you make will be overridden as you progress your OOTP game from postseason to offseason. For example, if you change Abbreviation from ML4 to MIL, it will reset to ML4 as you move to the offseason. IOW, you'd have to change this each season. (I'd just make a note to review & manually update all abbrev's at either the beginning of the offseason of Jan 1st.)

2. All of the above is my understanding from best recollections & years-ago testing. I absolutely recommend testing this out before actually trying it.

As long as you change it every seasons there won't be a problem. I always change the team abbreviation to the real ones when I play my 1871 to 19?? simulation and all player start with their original team (starting in 1871) / transactions (starting 1872) / lineup and injury (starting in 1901) happens as they did in real life.
