Player photo images using Player ID format are not loading

I am attempting to add player photos to the game.
Since these are fictional players, I used the Player ID file naming format (e.g., `player_1234.png`) and added them to the `photos/` directory used by that specific save.
However, the images are not being loaded. They still won't load even after running the "Auto-load" function in the in-game Player Editor.

I have confirmed that the images load correctly when using the player name naming format instead.

Is this a bug? Or is the Player ID format currently unsupported?

Maybe it's different for the photos but I'm sure the only name format working in the game are: Minor League ID, BBref ID and First Name_Last Name. I don't think another format will work with auto-load.

They have always worked when you auto load the player photo as long as you have a season file photo folder. After all years this year has been an issue for some reason. Even when I try to import photo file it doesn't work. The photos load as facegens.

Which meant I'm correct... if a player have no photo the game will create a FG. The naming convention of your photo files is wrong. The game only recognize the three ID methods I said above.

OOTP is a small operation. Matt, Lukas, and the rest of the development crew are on the forums and are good about helping out users, but there is nobody online 24/7. A lot of times, like in your other thread, users will come along to help you out and to answer your questions. Other times you may get a direct answer from the team.

Have you installed the historical player facegen mod? I'm guessing you haven't meaning OOTP will create fictional pictures for those players.

If like me, you're on Steam it is in the Steam Workshop and is easy to add.

If you're on Fastspring there is this thread "Complete Universe Facegen Pack 2.0 (New)" in the mod forum https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=352945 with links and instructions for both Fastspring (manual) and Steam (workshop) installation. There are also instructions on how to update a league that has already created facegens for historical players like yours. IOW you will need to follow those instructions to replace your fictional facegens with the real players.

A little advice you can take or leave. In the General Forum you asked for help with your multi player league that would include all or mostly users that don't own the game. You were met with some negative posts (none of these negative posts were from the developers), but you were mostly met with posts trying to help you out. Instead of your snarky remarks maybe you could extend those you are asking to help you the same courtesy?

You won't get a FG for him in the game as is, most players don't have a FG as the game focus on modern players (the one for the 2026 season players are included). What you must do to get historical one is easy... look my signature, click the link and download them. I work on the Facegen pack so they are as official as official can be and 99.9% of them look fine.

Of course you can get the complete pack but, at the best of my knowledge, it isn't cleaned yet and there are a lot of old low quality leftovers from yeras ago. So download my works + Lans work and you will be set in the player FGs departement.

I have some advice for the developers you can take or leave too: since you collect money from customers, you may want to work on solutions to problems we see repeating at least since 2020 rather than moderating "snarky" comments and offering advice.

I only just got here. How long have you been selling an app featuring MLB imagery and then not having MLB imagery?

I have thanked every user who has offered help, and I thank you for directing me back to those users for any answers. Most of the users are very generous.

One user accused me of licensing theft, then told me that it was not possible to create HTML reports featuring lineups and rotations. Rude, and wrong. I am just not feeling like I owe you or that guy too much love.

Let's just get back to baseball. It's a very cool sim.

No problem, all you have to do is to unzip the files in your FG folder and they will load for your player as the correct id is used.


PS: If it creates a sub folder (I think it will) just copy all the FG files and paste it in the main FG folder. Let me know if everything is fine when you'll try.

I'm not the first to post about player images. The solutions and links offered by users have not worked, but I still thank you and others for those.

I can see who I am dealing with as well. I'll let you get back to putting your head in the developers' laps.

I need to get back to trying to fix the ridiculous images in this game I just paid good money for.
