That lady ref took just 120 seconds to set back the cause of lady refs by 20 years.

I like that Germany lost to Ecuador.

Maybe that wakes them up.

Although the D in this game reminded me disturbingly of the Mets.

Me and my teams.

Once again, India & China each have 1.5B people. Cape Verde has approx 530,000 people. Yet they made the knockout round. India has 81 cities w/more population than the entire country of Cape Verde. China has a weird way of defining a city population. But they have about 125+ cities of over half a million.

Some of the better games were with teams no one considered contenders. I fell asleep during the Spain Uruguay match.

I heard that prices in this cup are 10X what they were in Qatar. Wouldn't surprise me. We also get commercial breaks with that!!

The complaint that hydration breaks takes away from the toughness of the game is laughable against the visual of grown men writhing all over the grass from somebody stepping on their toe.

I would like to take the opportunity, at half past one in the ******* morning, to express my deepest respect to the German team for having no plan, no strategy, no will to play, and managing to take the world-renowned soccerball nation of Paraguay to an overly full 120 minutes and 12 penalty kicks before being sent the **** home.

That was, from the start, the third World Cup in a row, where the team played ***** from the start (as if that Curacao game could have been a measuring stick) and was sent home in due time. If the DFB doesn't chop Nagelsmann's head off after that one, I don't know.

Maybe the players shouldn't have to play 70 games a year, but I hate the excuses that they're tired. They're ALL tired. It's not like Paraguay players had an easy 12 months ahead of the tournament.

Also, Kai Havertz. I love you to bits, but I see who plays in England. That was a gross penalty. Same for Woltemade (formerly of Werder Bremen, before they bobbled him), and don't get me started on Tah.

Jamal Musiala remains the most grotesquely overrated player in the sport. Me, me, me. Always: me, me, me. Loses more balls than the entire team is able to feed him. Disgusting. Me, me, me. Even when he steps on a guy's foot, he'll go for a dive and ten rolls, just so that it'll be all about him.

Maybe we also shouldn't have taken a pension-age goalkeeper to the tournament, but that's a different..... look, I have to go to bed, even though I could rant for another 30 minutes.

PARAGUAY.

Disgusting.

You mean the commercial breaks? True hydration breaks would be triggered by conditions. These hydration beaks are mandatory no matter what. Because you can't tell your sponsor we might run your commercial.

To your point. I never heard it criticized for that reason. But it is comical when you put it that way. I criticize it because it was the only event without commercial breaks during play. But leave it to the US.

I know it is for commercials. I also know there isn't a single sport that didn't allow players to take a short break mid game except soccer. So I really don't know what is the big deal. These competitions are a business. I don't see the harm in a 5-10 minute break to allow the teams to get refreshed while the fans in the stands don't have to miss any action to get refreshment. I welcome the bathroom break. As the king of old farts, I find the whole "controversy" a bunch of "angry man yells at cloud". It's a minor nuisance if it can even be called one.

Why does the Netherlands dress like traffic cones when their flag is red, white & blue?

Wikipedia got you covered.

Quote:
William the Silent or William the Taciturn (Dutch: Willem de Zwijger;[1][2] 24 April 1533 – 10 July 1584), more commonly known in the Netherlands[3][4] as William of Orange (Dutch: Willem van Oranje) and in the Dutch National anthem as Willem van Nassau, was the leader of the Dutch revolt against the Spanish Habsburgs that set off the Eighty Years' War (1568–1648) and resulted in the formal independence of the United Provinces in 1648.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_the_Silent
Not to be confused with this William of Orange or the William of Orange that became King of England.

LOL!!! football players play 11-12 minutes from whistle to whistle in an NFL game. I don't ever want to hear someone is spent. That's a joke. Since most players don't play both sides of the ball, they actually play around 6 minutes. You describe that as a short break?

Basketball and hockey are commercials all game long. They have enough short breaks to put anyone to sleep. Full court basketball and back and forth hockey is tough, just not in the NBA and NHL setting where they get break after break after break after break.

Soccer was the one sport you didn't get that.
