Variant auction bids

When you see a card and it says 8 bids how do you see the bids all it shows is the amount you started and how many bids on it...Thank you in advance,

I could get this wrong but the number you see is the high bid, which isn't revealed until someone adds to a lower, sometimes much lower bid.

With a little extra PP in the bank, I often hit 5,001 Pp Bids, only finding out that someone in the system has already bid higher. This clown show repeats until you find out other bidders pain thresholds.

So real values are hidden by the bids off the reserve placed by the owner..

The real joy in variant marketplace comes from sitting there at 1am local, knowing you can get Satchel 5.0 50% below L10.

Are you saying you IF YOU ASK 100.000 SOMEONE CAN OFFER LESS. i THOUGHT IF YOU ASK 100,000 THAT IS THE LOWEST YOU WILL SELL FOR.

No, if you are willing to pay the Iron Price, you will get the Iron Price.

I think you two are talking past each other. No one can offer less than the initial price set by the seller, and no one can buy the card for less than that amount.

What confuses people is that potential bidders don't see the highest bid. They see the second highest, as you'll find out if you jump in at the last moment with a bid that's one more than the listed bid and receive the "someone else has bid more" message.

This auction process is designed to encourage people to push bids higher and discourage those last-second "tiny bit more" bids. The highest bid remains a mystery to everyone except the highest bidder until the auction closes.

I got 842,070 for Cool Papa Bell variant card and I used the money to buy.
Pitcher Kevin Brown
Pitcher Eddie Cicotte
1st base Norm Cash
Rf Al Kaline

I thought I did pretty good and Eddie Cicotte was kicked out of the league for the 1919 White Sox scandal in his first game for me he threw a 1 hitter,

Are auctions only for variant cards ?

Quite a game-changing haul. Congratulations. Yes, auctions are only for variants.

I'm an old guy 76 and have never done variants but when I pulled the Cool Papa Bell card i thought i would give it a go. I didn't have room for him as I have Mantle, Cobb, and Speaker in the outfield with Chuck Klein DHing. I picked up Kaline because I have Cash playing first with Mcgwire.

I will definitely pay more attention when I pull high variants.

The odds

of pulling variants at each level are spelled out in the help test for the variant boost page. I'll summarize them here.

Perfect (1 card per 200 packs, about 50% are eligible to have variants) 1 in 50. So you should pull a perfect variant once in 20,000 regular packs, once in 100 perfect or rainbow packs, and once in 50 historical perfect or historical rainbow packs.

Diamonds (1 card per 30 packs, again about 50% are eligible to have variants) Odds of an eligible card being a variant, 1 in 50. So you will pull a diamond variant once in every 1500 regular pack, once in 100 diamond or rainbow packs, and once in 50 historical diamond packs or historical rainbow packs.

Golds are about 1 in 500 regular packs, once in 100 gold or rainbow packs, and once in 50 historical gold or historical rainbow packs.

1 in 100 eligible silver is a variant, and they are about 1 in every other regular pack. So you should get one of them about in every 200 packs. And Irons and bronzes are 1 in 200, so the odds of pulling a bronze variant are about the same as for a silver. And the odds of pulling an iron variant are about 1 in 45 regular packs.

No, it's a hidden bid mechanism. Your see 7,400 Pp, place a bid above that and the generous algo tells you you've already been outbid but someone else (probably not a nice person).

THAT shark among dolphins has a top limit already in place, say 12,500 Pp.

You can add to your bid until the cows come home UNTIL you find that bid and exceed it. The system then says you are high bid.

Variant marketplace is a THIN market. That shark may have placed that bid hours ago, never to return.

The surveillance requires:

1) placing your top pain bid and walking away

or ...

2) sitting there 5 minutes before END, laughing at adversity and getting a good sale under L10.
