An issue for years....
Per the play-by-play text in the game...... first basemen having to scoop throws out of the dirt and pick lousy throws that are bounced in to them.
It doesn't really hurt gameplay at all, but it is kinda like that issue with outfielders making diving catches on like 75% of the balls to the outfield a few years back...... The reality is, a first baseman picks maybe 1 or 2 throws from the dirt per game. Not the 10 per game that the play by play text claims. Again - no real harm to the game at all. Buttttttttttttt you would think that would get cleaned up at some point over the years. |

I have seen this, too. I don't mind the 3B on the line bouncing one to 1B, or the SS in the hole. As a [former] 1B these are known and expected. But too many throws in the game are easy from the 2B or the 3B or SS moving toward 1B, yet horrendous bounces. Not realistic.
But a far greater problem to me is the clunky visual of the 1B firing an overhand throw to the Pitcher covering, when they are a few feet apart. Can we work on underhand throws, smoothing this out? Also need to better triangulate when the pitcher needs to cover 1B at all. Too many routine ground balls to the 1B close to the bag end up with pitcher covering, when the 1B could easily tag the bag. You don't want to risk an exchange (and a pitcher injury), when the 1B can cover. And yes the OF diving catches have been reduced to rare plays, as they should be. There still can be a disconnect between the narrative ("great diving catch") and the visual (no dive), or "routine fly ball" and sudden dive.

Yes. I feel like the visuals have gotten worse over the last few years. As the 3D element has increased, the basic smoothness and basic play by play flow has really become trash I've been on record saying I can deal with the wonky visuals , and that's the truth - I can absolutely deal with them. Butttttttttt if we are mentioning some things that could use improvement.... - 75% of all infield throws shouldn't be getting picked out of the dirt at 1B, per the play by play text. - The ground ball to 1B w/ pitcher covering could use some refining. Pelican laid it out pretty darn good. - Quite a bit of overall random sloppiness in the visuals (infield pop ups, the CF retrieving balls in the LF / RF corner instead of the LF or RF retrieving them, outfielders randomly running into the bleachers to field balls, etc.) |

Please post these glitches in the movement thread in the format they need. That is the best way to get it better, I think.

It also seems on every other routine fly balls, one outfielder is calling off the other outfielder.

One thought I had on the 3-1 putouts is to adjust the placement of the play on the field grid for individual stadiums. You know, edit ballpark>ball locations? Not sure, but moving some of those plays away from the 1B bag could help? Or am I mixing up two different things? Maybe the ball locations do not influence the graphics?
