Expansion Teams and the Draft
I hope someone can help me. I have questions.
Before this season, I expanded my league by 4 teams. They have the last 4 picks in the draft. I would like to move those picks between the Playoff and non-playoff teams. There have already been draft pick trades. I am lazy and don't want to edit each round of the draft. My question is this: If I make the change in the first round, and then set up this order for every round(or whatever it is called), would that affect the traded picks? In other words, if the 16th pick in the first round was traded from NYY to LAA, would the pick in round 2 still be LAA, or would it revert to NYY?

I can only be of limited help. In my latest expansion draft, I chose the option to let the expansion teams pick first. My recollection is that at least one of those early picks was traded, and the team receiving the pick was allowed to use it in the draft (not the original team). So that seems to be "proof of concept" that trades for draft picks are recognized in the actual draft. That's all I got.

If I use the "use current order for all remaining rounds," does that include traded draft picks? In this screenshot, you can see Boston has multiple first-round picks. Would they have those picks in other rounds, or would they revert to the original team?

Quick way to test. Copy just the .dat files from your saved game folder into a new folder, name it "whatever-you-want.lg", then load it up in the game.
Don't even have to close the game to do it. |

So what would be the best way to easily change draft order for all rounds, also, how many rounds are your drafts?

I would recommend manually undoing the trades, hitting “apply to all rounds”, then manually redoing the trades. Annoying, but I think that’s the best option

Whenever I've needed to do extensive changes to draft orders I do it outside of the game by exporting the draft order, changing the csv file in a spreadsheet, then importing it back in. If you're comfortable with a bit of export/import and spreadsheet work that's by far the easiest (and quickest) way to do it. I always run the import on my test copy of the league first to make sure I didn't muck something up, then send it live. Last edited by snepp; 05-12-2026 at 08:40 PM. |
