Looking for Insight on Market Size in Historical Saves

Hello. I am just wondering if someone could give me some information regarding Market Size in historical Saves. The Market sizes of teams really are not making any sense for me.

So I have some questions. What determines Market sizes in a historical save? Is it RNG on start? I would have assumed it based on the actual market size. Or is it maybe by how good the market was at the time in 1969? Will the Market size change dynamically over my save or will the market size change based on IRL (through like under the hood changes)

Also importantly - Should i consider going into commissioner mode and modifying all of the market sizes and matching them to the IRL size? Could this throw off some balancing issues in future for my save? I really do not want to mess up my save. I was going to change a bunch of the market sizes and realized it may cause unforeseen issues down the road.

Sorry for all the questions, looking for an explanation. As a few examples of why I am confused on Market Size in my save.

For Example in 1969

New York Yankees = Big - Shouldn't they be astronomical?
New York Mets = Very Big (surprised they are bigger than Yankees?)
Pittsburgh = Big (should they really be the same size as the Yankees?)
Minnesota = Huge (Surprising - but I know they are a great team at this point)
Los Angeles Dodgers = Big (again shouldn't they be astronomical or larger?)
Houston = Very Big
Chicago Cubs = Average (why so small?)
Chicago White Sox = Big (really, were they more popular than Cubs in this time?)

Sorry about the long post, I figured I'd provide the market sizes in my game and a small tidbit. I have no idea if they are RNG or how they are determined and how they will change over time. For some reason its bothering me that the market sizes do not seem to match up but maybe I am not understanding what really is happening and I don't want to make changes that could have negative long term impacts on my save.

I edited my post and hopefully it is more clear. When I originally posted it, I will admit I was not in the best state of mind. Thanks

I could be wrong, but I've always viewed market size as very similar to fan interest gauge rather than it's true real life meaning. I believe you'll see market size increase as fan interest increases.

In historical games, the market size seems to be set based on how good a team was at the time. So if the Mets have a bigger market size than the Yankees, it's because the Mets won 100 games that year and the Yankees won 80. That doesn't really explain Cubs/White Sox, though, as the Cubs were good that year and the Sox stunk.
