Anyone else having an issue with random players' facegens turning generic with the new patch? They reappear if you auto-reload. Odd glitch.

We'll take a look and see if we can reproduce this. Does this happen just when you start a game or sometime during the game or when?

How about the seeming overtendency of holding runners at third on singles (from 2nd) and doubles (from 1st)? I've been seeing too much station-to-station, especially with two out (i.e. not even getting an option window on whether I want to try to score or not). Any modifications made to this on 27.2.56?

Nope

1. The first baseman tossing everything to a covering pitcher has NOT been fixed.

2. Now every high fly -- infield, foul out, outfield -- looks like a wind-blown eephus pitch.

3. Infield still being brought in at silly times. (Early innings in tied or one-run games.)

Forgot that one. No, not fixed.

So tried it on both live start and saved games. This seems to spring up with players who are subbed in on played games if you haven't already loaded their fg out of game.

As best as I can tell, here's what happens: If you load their page before beginning a game, the correct fg will appear in-game and appear subsequently out of game.

However, if you don't load their profile beforehand, and they get subbed in a game, their fg appears generic in-game and afterward (unless you auto-reload). The starters come up fine because their fgs all get loaded in the lineup preview.

So for instance in these images, the first two are from one save and the last is from another. So it's not any specific fgs or custom vs default.

As an experiment I played a team where I clicked on every player's profile on their roster beforehand. All the subs' fgs appeared. Odd.

Yes, it has. It's not the main result on balls hit to the 1B now, it's happening at realistic rates.

It will still happen of course, so if you're expecting never to see it, that's not going to be the case.

Thanks, this is a very helpful explanation. We'll take a look at this.

I have played over 10 games with this patch and #1 appears to be fixed. Some of the animation needs to be cleaned up. Generally speaking the animation is showing the 1st baseman tossing ball to pitcher if he isn’t close to bag but if he is close to the bag then he will generally make the out. I did see a couple animations where 1st baseman was much closer to the bag than the pitcher and he would make an awkward toss to the pitcher. That is more of a movement issue though and should be reported in the movement thread IMO. The ratio of unassisted putouts and tosses to the pitcher (maybe 3 to 1) looked about right just eyeballing on small sample size.

Thanks for this post, because it definitely explains things way better than I did.

You're 100% correct that what was fixed here was not that the animation may sometimes show a toss when the 1B is close enough to the bag to take it himself, but rather how often the 1B makes the putout himself as opposed to going 3-1 in the engine.

Fixed/Adjusted lots of ball landing locations/difficulties, impact of defense
**Adjusted defense influence, infield hit rates, infield single landing locations, flyball double landing locations, groundball difficulties, groundball fielder landing spots, inside the park HR rates, impact of shifts, among others

I was hoping that the animations for groundball base hits would be improved by this but from a 4 game sample I don't think they are. Specifically (on non-infield hits) grounders resemble line drives, often not bouncing until deep into the outfield. Sometimes they even go over leaping infielders.

In the PBP there's often a disconnect as a result. Categories 144 and 145 of the english.xml file are used which include lines such as 'broken bat groundball', 'slow roller', etc

Animations are a different subject, and how they link to the text and even different one.

We do regularly pass through the animations and fix/improve them.

If you see stuff that's off, like you mention, or Johnny Case mentions above, please do report it here, as per the instructions in the first post: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=367720

Then we can take a look and fix these up when we make the next pass through animation issues.

Not sure how I can document this, but I've played out (batter-by-batter) about 10 games and I've yet to see an unassisted-3 on a GB, several hit right next to the bag. But that is a small sample size. . .

Really have noticed where runners on 2nd stay at 3rd on all singles to the OF (even with 2 outs), same with runners on 1st after doubles, and long fly balls which should be SFs.

Not trying to be picky. :-) Really appreciate your very hard work. It's strange because the problems I've been seeing in '27 are not connected to things added to the game since '26, but rather basic issues which have been rock-solid for several years.

BTW, would really appreciate a final release patch for '26.

I've found what I think is a major issue. Starting a 1992 historical game, all the minor league teams seem to be loading twice.

It's a generic historical 1992 start, like I've done in the past. Unfortunately I deleted my old game as I wanted to start a new one with the new patch. Doh!

This sounds to me like the patch install didn't take somehow. If you check on the start screen, does it say build 56?

If so and you're still seeing this, you might want to go to settings > troubleshooting and hit the button to 'force reinstall game data', which should get the patch installed correctly.

It does say 56, but I have now hit the reinstall button.

Thanks, Lukas!

I've seen a couple folks mention this, but this is a little more of a tricky thing.

Basically, we had adjusted things here in a previous patch, because what was happening was that runners were taking way too many extra bases, to the point where the runs per game were too high over the course of a full season.

Now this looks better, so the overall amount of runners taking extra bases is a lot more realistic now than it had been previously. It may be that if you were used to the too many runners taking extra bases before, this feels off now, even though it's actually more accurate.

Now of course, that's not to say there may not be some plays where this is off, or where the animations don't match up well to the runners choices.

I would suggest that if you see some plays where it really looks like the runner should take an extra base but doesn't, that you report it here, as per the instructions in the first post there: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=367720

That way we can adjust the animations as needed on some of the specific instances where things look a bit off as you play out games.
