Historical League - new players signed too early; edit uniform numbers bug

I'm playing a historical league with the draft turned off. In the first season, when they players are assigned to their historical clubs, they are also signed to contracts.

This is not historically accurate, as many of those players did not sign contracts until one or several years later. It also pushes most teams above the maximum of 50 signed players. Can this be fixed?

It must be unintended because players who were unsigned prior to the creation of the new save remain unsigned.

It turns out the change numbers thing was a bug of some kind that was resolved the next time I opened the game. My apologies for the false alarm. It's still a bug, but easily overcome. Just restart.

Please don't let that take away from my raising the other issue, which I have confirmed has happened every time I have started a new game with the draft off.

Only Jeff can answer if this is a bug or design decision of his, so until he shows up here I´m afraid I can´t do anything about it.

I have advanced to the second season and the players who are added to the franchise are not automatically signed to contracts.

This suggests to me that much more that it is unintended game design that players added to a franchise in the first season of a new save — when a gamer is playing a historical league with no draft — are automatically signed to contracts.

Thanks for the additional informations. I´m sure Jeff will come in this thread and clear it up (I don´t want to change anything in historical without him confirming it is really a bug).
