Injuries are out of control

Can the devs look at the injury issues , especially in the minors? Every team has 5- 8 guys on the DL, every prospect has a 150+ injury risk in the player editor. Across the league tons of players have the wrecked attribute. On normal mode it seems more than in years past.

FWIW I run high-realistic and I'm not having an issue.

My minor league teams are decimated with injuries as well. As many are, I'm waiting for some of these issues to be addressed before I start my annual Oriole save.

If you think that’s high, check out real life after a month-plus of spring training games….!!!

It sounds like OOTP Devs finally dialed in the correct injury frequency in baseball and you are seeing those results in your game.

Injuries in game have always been a little lower than real life. From the sims I've run using 27 (very high frequency), they now look more like real MLB/MLB injury lists.

I'm having a rash of torn labrums, torn elbow ligaments and torn UCLs. I've never seen them occuring at this rate ever before.

I fired my team trainer so I could upgrade in the prevent arm, leg, etc injuries. Seems to have helped, or maybe the injury bug is lurking yet again.

Today I was playing the Tigers at Padres opening day and Kerry Carpenter drew a leadoff walk, only to get injured with a concussion! Did he trip on his way to first?

This is ridiculous - I have a 24 team fictional league 10 games into the preseason schedule. So far league wise there has been 4 torn UCLs. 4 torn labrums, 2 meniscus tears, 1 torn hamstring, and over a dozen injuries with more than a 2 week duration. And all of these are pitchers. Of the 12 players on the 60 day IL all but one are pitchers.

FWIW, as of 3/27/26, there are 166 players on the IL in the major leagues alone, an average of 5.5 players per team.

37 of those players are listed as having had Tommy John surgery, with another 5 having the internal brace surgery. 122 of the 166 overall (73.5%) are pitchers.

If you’re seeing 5-8 MLB players on each team’s IL and about 3/4 are pitchers, it’s basically in line with current MLB standards. Based on the proportions, it would make sense that a good chunk of them would have some sort of elbow injury.

The good thing with OOTP is you can turn down the injuries if you feel like it’s too much in the settings. I believe that the default is on a higher level, so feel free to tone it down if it’s too much. Enjoy the privilege that every MLB GM would give their left pinky for!

1. Not all of the MLB injuries occurred in this preseason; there were ongoing recoveries from earlier injuries and surgeries. The OP and post preceding yours seem to be noting a high rate of de novo injuries.

2. Especially in periods of (like the very beginning of the year) when the schedule and rested players permit roster flexibility (such as extra off-days allow carrying four starters), teams use their injury list disingen… strategically.

3. To the OP, my experience is that Wrecked injury status does indeed function sub-optimally. The average total games a player misses across multiple replays may approximate the target, but it disproportionately achieves this through the injury rate relative to the through the injury duration. The result is a Wrecked player virtually never had a healthy season, and accumulates minor to mid-grade injuries constantly. One year, for example, I noticed that Yordan Alvarez suffered 10 separate injuries-season injuries.

All the injuries in my above post occurred since the preseason games started 11 days prior

injuries

I am very impressed with OOTP 27 and the upgrades.
Nevertheless, there are still too damn many injuries.

Complaining about too many injuries is useless unless you say how many injuries you're seeing and how many you think there should be. It's theoretically possible for there to be too many injuries, but it's extremely common for casual fans to underestimate how many injuries there actually are in baseball. You should proactively work to reassure the reader you are not one of these.

I can say I'm not seeing too many injuries in my save. I'm getting about a dozen injuries a season, not counting short term "dinged up" type injuries. Many seasons I don't get any major season-long injuries at all.

The game now has 9 injury settings ranging from none to maximal. This was done intentionally. If you don't like your current injury setting couldn't you just move the setting down a level or two? If someone was making the claim that their injury setting was on extremely low and they were still seeing injuries frequencies equivalent to current MLB rates then I would think it is maybe a bug. That doesn't seem to be the case though. Are players locking onto a certain injury setting out of nostalgia? Maybe I'm missing something here?

These posts are useless IMO if you don’t include your settings for short and long term injuries and how many you are seeing. Saying “a lot” is not informative.

This is for MLB. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/injuries/
Arizona, the second team already has 12 players on DL. Not including minors.
I know last year I saw teams with 20 players at one time.

This appears to be a for all baseball. Just found it. Don't know how accurate it is.
