I'm assuming that the intsallation of the fg files are loaded into OOTP 27 not OOTP 25 as is indicated on the first page. Also, having downloaded this zipped file, can I assume that all players going back to 1871 to the present are in this file? Thanks.

Most are... there are still players with no visual of them surviving. Also some players are in serious need of upgrading but we are working on it.

And yes you unzipped in the game FG folder whatever version you use, but it will work better with the most recent versions (probably 23 and up) since the naming convention changed at some point.

Okay, I have completed the survey of all players in my current game who do not yet have a facegen. They break down like so:

Negro League major leagues: 166 (includes already-requested Spottswood Poles)
1920-1948 Negro League minor leagues: 2
pre-1920 black baseball: 29
Korean Baseball: 11
Other minor leagues: 41
Other unlicensed leagues: 77 (including a few folks like Leon Lee who played in the affiliated minors)
MLB players with no available pictures per tnfoto's list: 8

I'm not sure how many additional players I might have that already had facegens in the old pack (all those 7-8 KB pics), which fall under most of those categories.

So, let me know how I should proceed. Which categories can I make requests in, and how/where would you like me to submit such requests?

Oh, and still waiting for an updated Dave Van Gorder .

Tim Scott's (Reliver from the 90s) facegen seems a bit more yellow than it should be.

I had a feeling that would be the case. I originally intended to wait for Poles, but for now I'll go ahead and put the first ten NeLers alphabetically here:

I posted a mod in Steam tonight that will get rid of all the long sideburns I sometimes see on historical facegens. For those on Fast Spring, here is the link to the mediafire upload:

Below is the narrative I wrote on Steam. Since Fast Spring folks are generally comfortable moving files around, I'll explain it here. Go to Settings, Troubleshooting, Click button to go to customizable files, there is a folder called "facegens". In it are three folders called hair_hi, hair_med and hair_low. Those are the five sets of hair (and sideburns) the game uses. I replaced the Elvis version, the long version, all the versions that were not short... with short. So, no matter what the game wants to give it, the facegen gets short sideburns. The zip file also has the old ones in case you want to go back. For my part, I got tired of asking OOTPD to make the long one NOT the default for everyone in some games. So, like many things, I just finally decided to figure it out, do it myself as a mod, and share.

I enjoy making facegens. What I do not enjoy, is OOTP insisting that every facegen, from every era, needs very long black sideburns boxing their face in. Honus Wagner doesn't need them. Christy Mathewson doesn't want them. Nor does Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, Ted Williams, Josh Gibson, Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens or Mookie Betts.

It's not 1974 every day and Dick Allen looks plenty '70's without having to compel everyone in the history of baseball to also join the party.

This mod replaces the 5 variety of sideburns with just the shortest ones. It also puts the ones that ship with the game in a parallel folder with the prefix "original" so you can grab them and restore them if you want to go back. BTW the files are located in the folder with customizable data then /facegen/hair_hi (and _med and _low). Always replace a hi with a hi, etc.

If you have a historical league and want to force an update to clean up your league, go to your .lg folder in saved_games and delete the faces.dat. Absent those cached files, the game will make a new (sideburn-less) facegen the next time it needs one.

Great! Those sideburns annoyed me since forever, thanks for giving me a way to get rid of them as they can of ruined the baseball card.

I can get the zip file and do it manually even if I have the Steam version right? I suppose you have a readme file inside telling what you said above as I won't install OOTP27 for a while.

For me I noticed that if you load the fg then hit create new fictional picture, the sideburns or lack of sideburns aligns with what the fictional face had when you load the fg. At least that's what it does for me.

Also with this tool now being available, does this potentially give us hope to one day have the ability to give players long hair/make them bald too eventually?

Long hair I think would need to work in three dimensions whereas the hair in the game is just a layer atop the existing mesh. Bald might be possible depending what's on the mesh at the back of the skull (well, that part of the mesh wrap). Like I said, I just got tired all the long sideburns I see in my own games so set out to get rid of them. At least in the MLB 2026 Standard game, they set the default to default to ordinary sideburns. The final straw for me to make the mod was using real players in a fictional set-up resulted in long sideburns for everyone.

Another decade completed... 1940 to 1951, a grand total of 1,129 FGs updated (lots of World War II cup of coffee players)

As usual if a player isn't included it's because the FG in the pack was fine or the upgrade wasn't that huge.
