The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that right-handed reliever Dikember Sanchez will miss the rest of the regular season after suffering a rotator cuff strain while pitching in a 9-8 10-inning win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sept. 3.
It is expected to take the 30-year-old Sanchez to miss five to six weeks to recover.
In his second season with St. Louis, Sanchez has pitched in 38 games this season posting no record or saves and a 2.80 ERA over 37.1 innings.
Right-handed pitcher David Sandlin will be called up from AAA Memphis.
