Liking the game so far

My first reaction Friday was Ugh! I'm still hoping the classic skin gets some love. The black on black background just doesn't work. I'm not a fan of the black on a gray background for the PBP box either. Really hoping it gets switched to white on gray or even better white on black.

Started a random debut league beginning in 2005(1992 modifiers in use) and deleted six teams to get down to 24 teams. 162 game schedule, using 4 6 team divisions. DH in the AL, pitchers bat in the AL. 3 year recalc with development on. 140 TCR. I have short term injuries set to extreme and long term set to Normal. I will be raising long term as soon as I feel there are enough players. Even though I'm using 1992 modifiers, I kept the strategy set to 2005. I did change use of relievers to Very often. Didn't think I could stomach EXTREME. Think it will be fun to see if a 300 win pitcher is still possible under these conditions. I am getting the occasional complete game, so by no means is it out of the question. For now, the post season only involves the division winners, no wildcards. Of course, my one of my favorite parts of the game is the post season, so I probably will end up watering down the process in the name of more games and more series

I'm playing my usual way, simply watching a game per day. Not acting as a gm or as a manager. I'm currently up to July 6th, 2005 and I'm really liking the game so far.. I turned off facegen Friday night, due to some of the issues I was seeing with flashes and wrong faces etc. Now, I'm thinking I might not turn it on, even if I hear all the issues have been fixed. Game just seems to run smoother without it. No screen flashes ever.

League features a 24 year old Pedro Martinez and he has been dominant. Been forever since I've played the game during a period that features 1 inning closers. That is taking some time to get used to. Darryl Strawberry hit 14 home runs in the month of June and currently sits at 26 home runs on July 6th 2005. On pace for roughly 58 home runs.

The two most notable players from the Negro Leagues to enter my league are John Henry Lloyd and Cristobal Torriente. Both are doing great so far.

I have Lefty Grove and Walter Johnson in this league. 2 players, I don't think I've ever had in a random debut league. Was happy to see Al Kaline in my league. Was sad to see he's in his late 30's. Oh well, that's the way the fondue crumbles.

One thing I'm really liking so far is the fact that I'm getting way more modern day players in my league than I did playing OOTP26. Don't know if anything was tweaked, but if it was, thank you. My 40+ year OOTP26 random league was on a very slow trickle, maybe better described as a drip in terms of modern day players.

I set my minimum to 1910 for this random debut. I usually use 1901. Figure 1910 will eliminate more of the pre 1900 guys, but still allow me to get Cy Young.

So what does everyone think of the rain/fog game image? I'm having a hard time getting used to it. I don't play with rainouts, due to the way OOTP handles the whole process. One big wish I continue to have in terms of rain delays is for the game to factor the process into the actual playing of the game. If there's a lengthy delay, the pitcher that was on the mound when it started, should more often than not be removed from the game.

Overall, I really like the new game. Glad I decided to purchase early this year. Thanks to everyone that worked on the game to get it ready.

Modifers are 1992. What autocalc set them to. On the day prior to opening day, I changed the year to 1992 and let the game run autocalc. I then locked things down, so it will remain 1992.
