How is "perfect draft" in ootp 26 & beyond?

This is the only mode i played in OOTP 21 or OOTP 22. All I did was join "Perfect Draft" one after another, would draft my team then see how far it would go in tournament, then adjust my draft strategy and try again, before becoming pretty damn good and racking up 2-3K hours of mostly Perfect Draft inside Perfect Team mode. It was so much fun to draft your team, and then pit them head to head against everybody else's team, and i could sometimes complete 3-4 perfect draft tournaments over a single evening. I joined mostly 64-team tournaments, and would win some cool prizes with top placement.

I think I got a new version of OOTP in 23 or 24 or something (after they cut servers for the version i was using that still had a large fan base of perfect draft players) i purchased the new version of the game excited to play Perfect Draft, but then realized 99% of Perfect Drafts were full (sometimes having to sign up for a perfect draft days in advance -- instead of them being available to play several times per day) and pretty much felt like the entire experience was worse and way more restricted so i stopped playing and buying the game.

My question to OOTP perfect-team players is simple: what is the current format of Perfect Draft mode? Is it still heavily restricted/limited or is it like the early versions of the mode where you can join perfect drafts one after another and play in several tournaments over a single evening?

There are a ton more formats and there are quicks as well: so you can basically play non stop.

There are people who were playing 8+ dailies a day this cycle. Probably fewer early cycle when you're busy, but you can do 8+ dailies plus multiple quicks per day.

You can currently be in 5 traditional tournaments and 3 perfect drafts at a time. There are also an additional 2 traditional quick drafts and one quick perfect draft and an entry fee draft for traditional and perfect drafts.

That is a lot for one team.

I expect the opening in PT27 to be less in the beginning.

cool, are there openings every day around the clock for these drafts? or are they super restricted/limited where you sometimes have to sign up for a perfect draft that is hours if not days in advance and the simulation speed is so slow that it takes multiple days of simulations in order to finish a tourney?

i dont know if you or the other person who commented in this thread played perfect draft in 2022 (ootp 2021), but that is what im referring to.

+ around the clock perfect draft tournaments that fill up within an hour or two and then start that same day.
+ all of the tournament (every round) is simulated within a few hours of starting
+ once your team is eliminated you go back and join another perfect draft tourney that is starting/filling up soon that same day if you wanted to

essentially you could do this 24/7 around the clock every single day if you had the time to.

there was no restrictions, there were unlimited 32 & 64 team perfect draft tourneys starting all day every day and filling up all day every day and finishing all day every day. essentially you could bypass any P2W mechanics and just have fun doing perfect draft tourneys around the clock.

I remember if you won the tournament you would win random packs, perfect points, and super valuable/rare cards. If you got good enough at perfect draft tourneys you could really start raking in some nice assets to field a really competitive "perfect team" in the season-long mode.

if this is possible in ootp27 i'll be preordering/buying on launch

Draft barely existed then: there are a ton of different formats. If you do well in dailies or weeklies you can qualify for high level competition as well. You get stars from doing well, which replace tournament cards, but are far more flexible as a second currency.


You have to do very very well to make a living solely off of PD but there are definitely ways to do lots a day.

They also keep track of weekly and monthly performance so you can earn more rewards by winning those. You can also qualify for Perfect Team Championship Series in daily and weekly draft categories, which leads to Perfect Team Master Series and Perfect Team World Championship (although unlikely to qualify for the latter just by playing Perfect Draft). (Also, these are over for PT26). Anyway, to win the weekly and monthly contests, the top players play 8-10 perfect drafts every day.

Perfect Draft turned out exactly as I feared. The full 32-, 64-, and 128-team best-of-seven tournaments are now listed under “Dailies,” and they don’t start until 4–36 hours in advance. In OOTP 22, all Perfect Drafts were “quicks” — they had the same best-of-seven format as the current Dailies, ran around the clock, offered good rewards, and actually rewarded skill because the tournaments were large and competitive.

It used to be a fun mode where you could jump in anytime and play nonstop. Now the Perfect Draft experience is treated like some big, once-a-day event that you have to sign up for hours in advance — if you even get in that day. The quick tournaments are all small (2–16 teams) with odd formats that don’t reward skill. Over the years, they’ve completely restricted what made Perfect Draft great: it used to be a 24/7, quick-fill, full-feature tournament with randomly generated cards. Now it feels more like a “Super Bowl” event you have to wait for. Refund submitted to Steam. I’ll check back in five years.

you are very factually incorrect on all of the stuff regarding perfect drafts in 22: the prizes were horrible, the formats were boring, and you only had one slot to use them.

im just frustrated about some of the game updates over the years, it almost feels like the game dev has been taking a hatchet to all my fav. features.

anyway, i ended up re-purchasing the game after playing it some more.

I started giving quicks a chance and its kind of cool being able to win PP points by beating other people even if its in smaller tourneys and more luck is involved.

Please consider adding 32 teams and possibly 64 as well to the quicks.

Ive been having fun with the draft modes and building my perfect team. I like the pacing this year, it feels like the cards have more weight than they did back in ootp22 (not as many cards but the ones you do have have more meaning). Liking some other tweaks/quality of life upgrades in regards to the interface .. a lot of small stuff that just makes browsing the mode a lot easier. some noticeable gameplay tweaks im enjoying as well left a positive steam review

I think a 64-player quick draft would take at least a week to fill, if then. You'd be better off playing the dailies.
