Curious about Athletics in OOTP 27

Curious if Athletics will automatically move to Las Vegas in time for 2028 season? Does the new Vegas stadium have a 3D ballpark created in the game?

And what happens in terms of finances, fan interest, market size, etc? Do these auto adjust for 2028 season, assuming the team moves there automatically?

Anyone know the details of this?

I would think that nothing will happen to OOTP 28. So far, you can make the changes manually. But someone more educated on those parts of the game would be a better source than I

They're still in the game as "Athletics" for OOTP 27. As for the auto expansion, I don't think anything is in the game for that yet, but I always turn off auto expansion and just modify them myself, since I don't want the game to move them in '28 and expand the league with the Honolulu Honu or something like that at the same time

I think you have to turn on Commissioner mode and manually edit it.

I'll run a couple of quick sims to see if it changes automatically.

I've been using the A's since day 1 of the beta, they auto switched to Las Vegas prior to the 2028 season I believe.

I manually move them. It kills their finances otherwise.

I simmed from 2026 forward, and they do move to Las Vegas in both sims that I've done so for with 27. Also happened with 26 before the 2028 season.

I just simmed a new league and on Feb 22, 2028 they changed from Athletics to Las Vegas Athletics. The city changed from Sacramento to Las Vegas. The stadium is called Athletics Park (302, ATH) in settings and called Athletics Park.

I haven't played a game yet to see what it looks like visually.

As is no surprise they have the lowest budget in baseball and have not finished above .500 in either 2026 or 2027 in my sim.

Now something else happened which makes me crazy: they traded 30 year C Sea Langeliers adn retained 80% of his salary - so they are eating $16.8 million this year for a Catcher they don't have - and they signed 37 SP Zack Wheeler to a 3 year $136 million contract in January. The even better part is that Zack is injured with a torn elbow ligament and still has 3 months of recovery time meaning he might be back at the end of May.
