Well? Tell the rest of us what you're 1st impressions of OOTP '27 is. I'm away on business and won't be home until next week.

I haven't gotten very far yet.

Loaded a standard game with offseason start option, there are no players.

Loaded a Honkbal game out of curiosity just to click around for a bit.

Loaded the USBL quickstart, none of the teams have coaches assigned to them, which is a bit disappointing. They're all free agents. Don't recall if was the same in previous versions, it may have been and I just don't remember.

Setting up my first dev lab at start of spring training, bit of a PITA (I made a post whining about it).

Really dislike the animated rating bars. They're neat the first 3 times you see them, now I'm ready for a "disable bar animation" setting.

Need to get this first season going so I can get a look at the new stat stuff.

Settings > Misc> Animate Rating Bars.

I'm with you on this. In general, I don't love the readability of the UI

Two images that illustrate the problem to me. First, the latest edition of FHM ( I know it's a different game, but similar UI). In that, the bars are close together, with clear labels, and I can see at a glance what each person is good at. All the ratings are the same size.

In OOTP, the bars are farther apart, which makes it hard to take in overall info. The tabbed over BABIP makes it look like the player is better at that than Gap, which isn't true. And the labels are grey on black, which is hard to read. The speed etc. ratings are small when the batting ratings are bigger. Just harder to read overall

Kudos to OOTP for having accurate rosters as of this morning as far as I can tell. Usually guys like Littell would be left as FA's until April. But he's on the Nats already.

So very first impression is really minor in the grand scheme of things -- but something that made me smile. I really appreciate the devs implementing my suggestion to update the international player pool. Love seeing Curacao and the Bahamas in there

Appreciate that, only major thing I know of that didn't make it in (because I didn't have the figures until this morning) was his contract. The Jesus Luzardo extension is in there though.

I play most of my games out so 3-D improvements mean a lot to me. Can you elaborate about these more please?

the shadows and lighting give everything added realism. more new animations. and the animations have been smoothed out, everything is looking very slick. playing on a rainy/foggy day is represented visually. new bunt animations. ball flight feel more natural and has more realistic movement. lots of little things that you'll no doubt notice!

I'm pretty happy with the new release but I'm 75 so my needs are basic.

I had some stress after Markus sold but I must admit it hasn't hurt the game

for my playing needs.,,

I'm sure there's big things that will rear their head but I'm kinda shocked how solid this beta seems out the gate compared to the last few. Granted, often those had statistical items that came out in the wash, but I think much of that is the same. It's hard for me to judge everything that's going on with the advanced stats, but I love it so far. Especially the front end, default screen on the player's card. It's such a fun way to immediately assess the year they're having, and in some ways whether they're having a stretch of bad luck. Does it add abilities that weren't there before? Probably not, but I like it. It feels like it goes with the stat by stat scouting, but need more time.

There's a lot of dramatic UI changes, I'm still working out how I feel about them. Bar animation definitely needs to be off after the first 20 minutes though I appreciate what they were going for. OOTP is always going to be a tad too janky for that drawing attention to itself. A lot of work here, I suspect a lot of adjustment for many people here.

I'm not a huge 3D player. I saw some improvements, but I still saw a lot of goofy ball arcs and infield defense animations that take me out of the experience at times. My expectations are not high here because I just don't care all that much, and most baseball sims are crap in this direction. It's not worse, it's a bit better. That's what I'd say.

Happy so far.

Beta has been the best it’s been in years. Silky smooth. Well done, dev team.

so far so good re most of the beta, but really disappointed with the 'improved' trade AI so far. hoping those improvements are more recognizable with the full release

Leaderboards

Loving the way 27 looks (although I'm still not sold on the whole "improved AI" pitch), which is half the battle won for me.

However...

Why aren't the advanced stats available for inclusion on the customisable leaderboards, either in the STATS tab or in the standings sidebars?

I mean the first RTR video was all about them, which tells me the devs think they are a pretty big deal and smell of rich mahogany. So for them to be completely unsighted on the leaderboards strikes me as odd in the extreme.

Am I missing something?

I’m one who plays each game in my save. I have always enjoyed the grind. So much so I started a save in 19 and carried through the 25 game until my computer crashed. I went from 2019 to 2035 in 6 years so my vantage point is specifically from the in game experience

I feel like after 20+ years, some things should not be an issue on launch. The UI/UX is poor. I’ve messed with the settings quite a bit but the hard font to read that others have mentioned is one.

In game, outside of the new look scoreboard cosmetics, the players look a bit rounder and not so blocky but it is mostly the same experience. For example, if you play enough you know if a batted ball will be an error.

I know this is the not intended focus but how about some batting stance options. DoesnÂ’t need to be robust.

I’m a return customer of 20+ years and will always buy this game but sometimes I wonder if there was another game to push on would some of these table-stake items get addressed.

Font size always too small

I haven't been able to get it to a point where I can read the text, it is so small Changing font size and restarting, diff resolutions, using same setting as 26, nothing makes it big enough for me to read. Been playing since 16...

You might need to adjust your dpi settings:

Tiny text fix: *Disable check* not *Off*

Thanks! Turning dpi[ OFF in expert setting s wrecked the resolution for my monitor and every other app (should ootp settings have universal affect to pc?) , but changing dpi to Disable Check seems to fix it for OOTP and not touch general PC settings. I hope.
