Batting helmets

In 3D play, the new batting helmets pull in the team logo and standard design color settings instead of the custom design when the custom design is set like it is for the ballcaps.

Can you guys set the helmets also to pull in the custom design when the custom design is set on the ballap?

Are the helmet colors fixed now? Like when you have a different color helmet for the road does it still give you the home helmet instead?

You have to manually put in the color on the design field so it's reading that, I think, and I think that part is fixed. But when you select custom design, it should just pull in the hat like it does with ballcaps, and it does not. I get the Astros full logo on the helmet instead of the ballcap file with custom design selected and a ballcap file in place.

The helmets use the Cap and Visor colors from the Ball Cap page. There is no custom helmet and there is no way to map a balllcap to a helmet.

I don't think mapping a ballcap to a helmet would work since most of the ballcaps have fabric textures which would not work on a helmet.

The devs should simply allow us to create helmets the same way we currently create caps.

Been asking for this since helmets were introduced. Hopefully v27 is the first step towards getting that added to the game.

Yeah, that's what I was actually trying to say, but I said it poorly.

I have a workaround for the current setup, but it requires me essentially to use cap logos in the each team's small logo field. The game uses cap logos for small logos, by default, so I can see why it's done that way. But I prefer to use full logos for "small logos" because I think the team schedules look better with full logos.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my Phillies connect jerseys still bat with the red batting helmets. Even though I have the cap and visor colors set to that dark navy blue. The only helmets I get are the main ones the home colors. Even if the road colors are different. So I don't get it what's wrong.

You need to put whatever logo you want for your helmet in the logo spot of the Logos tab of the uniform screen, like highlighted in the first image below.

Then, in the Ballcaps tab, you need to make sure your colors are whatever you want the helmet to be, but make sure you select the Home uniform at the top. For some reason, even the road helmets pull in the color info from the Home uniform. You can have one color for the helmet and another color for the visor, or bill, of the helmet, like pictured below. My setup shown below gives me a blue Astros helmet with an orange visor/bill.

If you want your Phillies CC uniforms to have the proper helmet, you'll have to manually switch that logo shown on the first scrseen and helmet color on the second screen. You can always switch back. It's not ideal, but it's a workaround, for now.

For teams that have a different front panel color, like the '70s Braves and Orioles, or the Astros with the City Connect, it's tricky, and I'm still experimenting with that.

Well I messed around a bit but it's just too much to make it work right. Best wait for a proper fix. One problem my Phillies have red hats and the small logo is also red. If I change it to white is shows but kinda small. Plus what about the other teams in that same kind of situation? Where the small logo is the same color as the hat. Eriqjaffe I think has the correct solution. This seems like trying to make a quick cheap fix but it doesn't work for me. I'll wait just as I have been waiting.

I import my game each year just after the World Series so it will be a bit before I'm where I start to play any games. But this using the small logo is not a good way to go. Most teams small logo is not what is on their hat or helmet.

If they stick with this model it's going to take a modder to make "helmet" logos to be put into the small logo spot. Then you'd have to live with that logo in spots that you don't want to see them. Me? I'd take that to have the helmets correct as I manage every game. I wish I was a "graphics guy" so I could make a batch of small "helmet" logos.

I agree. It affects the feeling of immersion. I don't understand why the batting helmets can't be set up to act the way the custom ballcaps work where if you put something in the custom ballcap field, it replaces the standard ballcap fields.

I play 1970s games, and I had to make special "helmet" logos for the Orioles, Braves and Padres. They do the job on the batting helmet, though, frankly, they don't look good. And then they look terrible in the standings and schedule screens.

I took a shot at making my Cubs red C with white outline here.
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...19&postcount=1

There's screen shots of it in the standings and the uniform page. Along with the logo itself that can be right clicked and saved. I play an imported game so won't see it in a game for quite awhile, but at least on the dark skin it doesn't look too bad in the standings. I'm not sure where else it might turn up.
