Folder Structure
Is the folder structure supposed to be different in 27? The game is trying to store everything (including jerseys, ballparks, facegen) in a data folder whereas version from 21-26 saved that stuff in a separate folder from the installation files.
It isn't going well... I create a game, save it, close OOTP 27, reopen it, and immediately get error messages. Then when trying to continue game I just saved, it said an error occurred while loading the database. What's going on?

Folder structure all depends on how you install the game. Steam, user-defined and default store files differently. This confuses many people. I use "user-defined" so all files are in a single folder. Click on league settings then database to see where your files are being stored.

What OS? I much prefer the single folder installation and having everything in one place. Last edited by snepp; 03-12-2026 at 12:37 PM. |

- running OOTP as administrator helps - additionally some of the data/ subfolders for some reason admin full control permissions were being ignored and run as admin didn't overcome so I had to adjust the permission for the "users" group for those subfolders to have full modify rights as well and then everything worked (Windows) |

I do all of my non-steam game installs into a c:\games directory to avoid any potential permissions issues. Also makes it easy to whitelist the entire folder for antivirus exclusion. |

The one with issues was a default windows installer (which I really only do to recognize any issues others might have during beta) c:\program files I think in the future for full installer, I'll do it the way you have in c:\games or something. |
