Players in foreign leagues (retired by OOTP)
OOTP retires players who are actually still playing in other leagues aside from Korea and the few European leagues. That's unfortunate but it's due to OOTP not owning the licensing for these other leagues. Former MLB and MiLB players under contract in these unlicensed leagues are therefore simply retired by OOTP. I'm a stickler for detail and with each new version, I compile a list with these players and unretire most of them.
I will attach my list here in case anyone is interested. It includes most of the ex-MLB and ex-MiLB players signed to play in one of four foreign leagues for the 2026 season. |

So players like 27 year old switch hitting outfielder Yonathan Perlaza and 29 year old SP Riley Thompson who signed contracts to play in Korea have their names scrambled due to licensing requirements. Each time you start a new game, a different scrambled name is assigned to them.
When the time comes that I start my save game, I don't want to use the Korean league - only MLB and the Indy leagues. But if I start the save game without first including Korea, all players like Perlaza and Thompson are gone (not even listed under "Retired").*** Using the "Import" function to bring them into my game one-by-one is possible, but the ratings are much worse and the career stats may not be complete. So I'll have to go through a multi-step process to bring the non-Korean players back into my MLB universe. To be honest, it's a pain in the rear and I wish OOTP could make this easier for us. But I know this isn't at the top of the to-do list. *** Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, in previous OOTP versions, former MLB and MiLB players signed to play in Korea would be found under "Retired" in the MLB universe if I didn't include the Korea league. That way I could unretire them. This time, that's not the case with all of them. Anyway, it's early and those are my first impressions. Last edited by Karl Pagel Blues; 03-11-2026 at 10:14 AM. |
