Light Skin hard on the eyes

Running both 26 & 27 and checking back and forth, the 26 Light Skin is so much easier to read. I double checked and made sure all the settings were the same on both editions. The light skin in 26 has a softer white and alternating colors between each line of text when on the Manager's Office screen. Also, on that screen in 27 the much thicker black borders between each box has reduced greatly the amount of readable text in each box. For example, I use 6 columns and in 26 the team roster box shows almost every player's full name. Only a couple have 1st initial and truncated last name. in 27, with basically the same team and players, every player in the lineup shows only 1st initial and most have truncated last name. Would love an option to have the 26 light skin with softer colors and smaller borders. I find the other skins even harder to see for me in both versions, so probably am going to have to use the light skin regardless.

I’m not really liking any of skins, Dark, Light, Classic all seem bad.

I reported this issue in the the game forum with screen captures showing the issue. White text on white background is unreadable.
This is the first year I've seen this issue. I've always used Light.

Feel free to move my thread to this forum,
Thanks

Every year OOTP tweaks the colors, forgetting that every year they need to go back to ones that work for all, not just them.

Light yellow on white background, white on white.

It seems like no actual game testing occurred as these issue are obvious. I did not even need to actually move one game day to notice the issues.

Every year they change the skins and end up changing them back to ones that are readable. No testing appears to actually have been done to check what the skins look like. Should have taken 1 minute to identify the color choices do not work.

I just noticed that even the close game popup where you click OK has white unreadable text on white background. I thought it was a blank window.

Really shows there was zero testing being done for this version. Even someone playing the game, testing the skins should have noticed the issue with close message box.

Do you know when each of the skins was available to be tested? Were they made available all at once or at different stages during the testing phase? Do you know if the skins were presented to the beta team as a finished product or a work in progress? Do you know if these issues were, in fact, reported but other, higher priority tasks took precedence during crunch time?

I have no idea when anything happened for the skins. I just assume that a beta release should not have these common problems because the developer that build them, should have performed some basic testing and caught the issues.
I mean really, not catching white text on white background. That is so simple to see and fix when building the skin.

As a member of the Beta team I can assure you there were a lot issues with Skins brought up and corrected during testing. Did we catch them all? No. Were the Skins a high priority during game testing? No

There are more fixes coming.

You do realize this is a Beta and not the finished product right?

I can only hope that all the problems with the skins that you've been finding have been reported in the proper thread, otherwise they may continue to get over looked.

We'll keep working through cleaning up and correcting the skins issues. There's lot of screens, lots of items, lots of skin options, it's not so easy to catch track them all down, and figure out exactly which item has the wrong colors. We did fix a bunch of them for the build we put out today, but we know there are still some left to catch.

Thanks Matt.
I realize this is early release, but as someone that worked in IT for 30 years, missing bugs like this is hard for me to understand.

I get that there are a lot of moving parts and things just aren't going to always work. What I don't understand is why skins that have already been debugged in previous versions are not simply copied over and then if you want to play around and try something new just add a new skin and try it there. I am sure there is a lot of stuff I just don't understand in this process, but I've always been a big fan of " if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

This. Exactly!

Create a OOTP_light_27, etc. if you want to change them and leave the old ones alone for this of us that want to keep playing with them.

Thanks.

I still find the light skin unusable after the update. The orange and green ratings and names are overwhelmed by the bright white. I have again opened both the 26 and 27 products with similar screens and the white seems more subdued and readable on the 26 screen. The oranges are more of a brown and the greens are not neon. I'm sure you would be able to make these same checks for yourself. I don't really like the dark skin but at present it remains the only one I can read in 27.
I am still hopeful you can reproduce the 26 light skin or something similar as I would much prefer to use it.

I don't blame the beta testers. I blame the person that actually sat in front of a computer and decided to use black lettering on a black background. White lettering on a white background is another brilliant concept. Still think it's hilarious that none of these horrible choices effect the in game Modern 3D portion of the game. If the skin is created using some form of rainbow AI concoction, the person that pushes the button should at least review the results before it becomes part of the game. If not, putting a popup in game asking for Steam reviews probably isn't a great idea.

That being said, I'm for the most part very pleased with the game.

My assumption is that some type of style sheets are used and while making changes to one screen and fixing an issue, it broke many other screens. That is why I keep posting about testing everything repeatedly. This is a complex game that needs repeated complex testing. No assumptions should be made about isolated changes. A small team needs to be very careful with changes, because as they themselves have posted, their time is limited. So changes need to be analyzed carefully and tested fully to avoid rework. Maybe 28 will leave the colors alone for a year to avoid the months of reworked required in this and past versions.

I'm installing the new patch now. Will be back with comments about the UI color updates once I've reviewed them.
