Happy to share. I picked up the prompt directly from Gemini when I was having trouble with some faded photos. I asked "it" to suggest a prompt and have been having generally good results with that which is some variation of:

Restore this old photo into a professional image of very high quality and color, comparable to the results of a Canon EOS R5. Ensure the restored image looks natural, retains exact facial features, has excellent clarity, and no noise. Remove all grain, cracks, and physical damage while preserving the original historical character. Balance the light and produce an ultra-realistic 4K image that feels as if it were taken today.

I have discovered to my delight that if you also include an image of a hat and jersey (that I usually pilfer from mlbcollectors.com), that Gemini will use those for color and texture reference without additional prompting. When it works right, it makes you look way more skilled than you actually are.
