Nice first RTR video. Lot's of info and screens to pause for a long look. I already have too many views in my game and you add a 152 new choices. Thanks.

Three weeks to official release. Looking forward to it.

Simple (I think) stat request spay chart on the field for outfielders. Just like the infield.

Will all of these advanced stats be exportable on HTML / CSV / whatever? And will there be more comprehensive all-time tracking than at present, for individual players, teams, leagues, leaderboards? Not just for these new stats but all?

An export to Excel feature for stuff would be so great. Draft pools, payroll, etc all the stuff I copy/paste manually for my giant workbook lol.

Yep, it came in a couple versions ago, but is far too selective for my liking. Why can't one export an individual player's stats to csv? All-time franchise registers? Just anything and everything? Same functionality, surely it can be made universal, no?

Sorry, OOTP already has more stats than I will ever need. This is overkill to me, but I am not into all of the SABR stats. I realize that many OOTP gamers want this type of stats. If this is a major reason gamers buy the game, I completely understand it. OOTP has to please its prime customers.

I realize I am in the minority. My prime interest in the game is 3D animation, News Stories and Game Recaps, Most gamers I believe are not interested these areas and I understand this.

However, I just wish Matt and his wonderful team would spend some time on the 3D animation, fix the chronic glitches, make it smoother and less herky jerky and add more variety to play outcomes.
I wish the OOTP team would create default settings for camera views that are well done, so I don't have to create camera views myself. I am not skilled IT-wise and wish the default settings would do the job.
I would just like to watch the games play out like I am watching a game on TV. Just keep it simple and well done and I would be happy. 3D has too much customization like huge number of stats.

It is time the 3D animation was fairly good. You have have it 5 years or so and it still needs a lot of work. I don't expect EA 3D animation. OOTP has limited personnel.
On a version in the near future, please perfect it. It hasn't gotten a lot better in the last 3 years. 3D animation is why I still buy OOTP year after year.

Also you really need to work on the News and Game Recaps. It is really neglected. They don't have enought variety and are poorly written. The POTG is missed 50% of the time. A guy can hjit 3 homers and the AI will give it to someone who hit gamewinning run in with a bloop single. This could be an exaggeration on my part, but I have seen many bad choices. I suspect most of the New Stories have only 5 variations in each, the playoff stories. In the playoffs I see the same stories repeated much, much too often. Ditto for Hall of Fame announcements and Player Awards. I see the same stories far too much.

If you need help on the Beta Team, I will be glad to write more New Stories for you. Just send me a PM. Back about 10 years I greatly expanded the New Stories and the Text PBP with the help of several others, like the very skilled, dedicated and hardworking pstrickert and Webguy (Sorry, I think it was Gary). I would be glad to do it again. Back then, Markus would just create a new category and only do 5 different versions, when 30 might be needed for variety. I understood he did not put a high priority on the news stories and rightly so. I get the feeling that News Stories still have only a few folks creating them and is very low on the priority list. I'll be glad to help them.

I am in the middle camp here, I do appreciate the advance stats and use them when trading and drafting and setting up my roster, but I too, am looking for improvements in 3d animations and overall game play (e.g., umpires, coaches on the field, more uni variations/additions)...

Hall of Fame stories number more than six dozen. Playoff recaps number more than 300 -- 340 to be precise. Each category of award stories numbers in the dozens. Player of the Week (Hitter) stories, for example, number approximately 200.

I was with you guys, but I started down the rabbit hole of advanced stats, and darn if it isn't a lot of fun. Admittedly, I have the time and a little bit of logic/math background that makes me nerdy, so this is fun to me. I don't think a ton of math experience is necessary to enjoy them, though, just finding relevance is pretty easy.

All of that to say, you never have to use them for sure, but if you ever want to try the stats part of this game, its pretty fun to dabble in.

I'm think it's important that advanced stats are included in the game to broaden its appeal in an attempt to attract new and younger gamers. I agree with Eugene, I won't use them.
I'm an old timer. I purchased my first Strat-O-Matic cards and dice game back in 1969. Baseball sims have been my hobby of choice ever since. I have purchased computer sims DMB, Action PC, APBA, and Strat-O-Matic.. I have been an OOTP player for many years. I still have DMB and Action PC on my computer, but rarely play them. OOTP has developed into my dream of what a baseball simulation game should be.
I only play historical. I love the ability to start a season in any year and carry on from there. I have one league set up using historical transactions. I pick a different team to manage each new season, switching between the AL and NL. I have another league set up were I start with a team and a year, playing as manager and GM. I allow trades and have full minor leagues. I don't have an amateur draft. Players start with their original organization. I don't use financials. I would rather play games than worry about negotiating with and signing players. The results usually turn out to be realistic. A plus is you don't have to buy a new season file every year.
The great thing about OOTP is you can play it however you like.
I buy it every year for the incremental improvements in the animation and gameplay. I'm hoping some of the unrealistic baserunning and infield play has been or will be addressed.
Here are some things I think need addressing:
The computer manager playing the infield in with a lead of 2 runs. I have never seen that in all of the Major League baseball I have watched over the years.
The infielder attempting to throw out a baserunner at home when there is a runner on third and the infield is playing back.
A runner on third not attempting to score on a groundball when the infield is playing back.
I think too many trailing runners are thrown out attempting to take an extra base, especially with two outs.
Other baseball sims allow you as manager determine where to throw the ball when in the field, and when to send and not send a runner when at bat. I would like to see those options in OOTP.

Thank you, pstrickert, that is great to hear. That certainly is enough variety.

When I play my postseason playoffs, for some reason, I get the same recaps repeatedly. It regularly says "such and such a team is on the cusp of winning the series"... the word "cusp" is often used when a team gets ahead 3-0 or 3-1 in the series. I have three rounds of playoff games and I see it in all rounds.

I will see what happens in my next season and get back with you with facts, rather than a casual appraisal.

I don't doubt your word. I know how well you do your job on the News Stories and PBP. You are one of the most capable, thorough and skilled person I ever worked with on the Beta Team.

I could be mistaken in my observations that the recaps are redundant and repetitious.

And....it looks great from what we saw in the interview imo. This is really going to help limit those funky CPU to CPU trades that would take some of the realism away at times.

I'm guessing it also applies to the offseason too based on what direction the franchise is set to

ie) Build a dynasty, rebuilding, win now etc
