Stamina problem for pitchers

I searched but didn't find a similar thread.
Has anyone else had a problem with starting pitchers losing stamina quickly? I had a stud starter go from 70 stamina to 35 in a year and yes, I checked my player development strategy and it was neutral on stamina. It is now happening to my rookie starter even though I have his set for above neutral.

How do I stop this from happening?

I assume your team isn't being singled out by the dev engine. If everyone is getting the hit then you are not at a disadvantage, so don't worry about it.

The only time I've had that happen to me is when a starter is coming back from a major injury. To be clear it doesn't happen all the time to every injured SP.

Definitely need more information. Are you playing historical? Which pitcher did this happen to? It's possible he was a starter who was converted into a reliever in real life, so his stamina would have been gone down to reflect that fact. If you're playing fictional, then my best guess is that there was an injury in there somewhere.
