Could very well have been a misprint, BUT I really do think that most of these oldtimers records as he have them today, are at a 25% at maximum. We have a lot yet to discover.

Hub Parker "career" unfolding...
Have looked through to Parker's first fight with Babe Beatty(Beattie). Some interesting reading unveiling the make up of Parker. A cocky self assured fighter who maybe thinks more of his ability than what he's shown thus far. See his comments on Mar 06 Caledonian-Record and not he expresses he's fought 410 times up to that time!

Interesting. Why does Parker seem to be an unknown quantity to local fight fans if he's had over 400 fights? Was he fighting elsewhere previously and under a different name? Also, it seems Beattie was "Beatty" in the States and "Beattie" in Canada. He definitely spelled his last name with "ie" at the end as he signed his name that way in an open letter to a Sherbrooke newspaper.

Would be interesting to have these guys in TB to then replay the fight cards. Thinking about that as I've run across quite a few of these in these old newspapers. I only thought have down to Welterweights in my DB though so a lot fewer guys in the weights under Middle to be able to play test against. |

Hub Parker vs Ray Tejar and then Larry Mercier
Here were the Fight Card schedules I found. Finding these help to identify fighters weights that a lot of times not getting noted in the fight review or even preview articles.

Hub Parker Some pre 1936 career info
So, ran across an article in the Sat, Jun 06, 1936 The Caledonian-Record that is discussing Hub Parker's decision that he wants to manage himself and he wants to change his name to Kid Parker, the name that he says he used before coming to Newport and began going by Hub Parker! The article mentions that Parker boasts of a career of more than 400 public fights and has never been KO'd. So how much of the 400+ fights is made up by Parker?
So then I searched BoxRec for Kid Parker. There's a bunch of them but one right near the top of the list stood out. Kid Parker 1933-1933, Residence Burlington, Vermont. So I opened this Kid Parker up and he has one fight listed against a Walt Neal on April 5, 1933 says in barre Arena, Barre. I looked up Neal, saw a quick referenced to this fight but think it said in Burlington? So I did some searching of Kid Parker in 1933 newspapers and am finding a good number of articles on fights by a Kid Parker from Rochester! Remeber the Feb 7, 1936 Express and Standard, Newport article that introduces us to Parker starting against Bill Stewart and that article mentioned Parker's home town was Rochester, NY where he fought before moving to Newport. So could very well be a wealth of fights for Parker pre 1936 under the "Kid" Parker moniker. |

I'm pretty sure of that. I'm not sure about the Burlington one, but I really think that the one from Rochester is our Hub. |
