Player extends contract but with former club

I somehow managed to sign McDavid with the Montreal Canadiens. After 3 season, his contract ended, but I had a renewed contract in line.

At the transition, he went back to the Oilers, with the renewed contract.

In his "bio", I can see the entry "signed with Oilers" at the date of the renewal, but no entry "became free agent". It is a bug since he was never on my "upcoming FA" list, and he had a new contract lined up.

Since I lost the best player in the world for nothing, I'd like to point out that it can be a major pain for some players

We can´t reproduce this but added some code that should, in theory, prevent it to happen now.

I think I may have the saved game somewhere if you want to check what might have happened. Haven't seen this bug since either and have no idea what could've caused it.

I loaded a new game and tried the exact same thing (trading in McDavid and advanced 2 seasons).

He, again, had a contract renewal lined up with the oilers (see attached file). The contract renewal even actually overlaps with his current contract.

That might be a hardcoded renewal gone wrong as it is obviously the exact contract salaries and duration that he has in real life with the Oilers, but 1 year offset.

To reproduce it, you can do the following trade that should be accepted.

Thanks for the support! For now I'm gonna trade McDavid at the end of the season since I can't even try to renew his contract (the game does not believe he is a Upcoming FA so I dont have the option to renew!).

Should get something good for that guy

We finally tracked this down: it was indeed a McDavid problem, his contract extension is twice in the DB, leading to the problem.
