Ok to make it short, my main question atm is this:
I'm generally looking for a ballpark and stumbled across one on 3D Warehouse. But in fact I can't even have a proper look at it lol It comes as a SketchUp .skp file, which won't import into SketchUp Make 2017 because it says it's created with v2024 or something, hence v2017 can't open it. (I'm not going to install/buy a newer version of sketchup, only because of this...) Now I've updated Blender to v5 (I was on v2.9), because there's that .skp importer addon which I also installed. And it's indeed importing the .skp, but it's not really looking right, seems to me textures are missing or something... So, does anyone know how I could just have a proper look at the damn thing??? ![]() When it comes to Blender, it could be just a user error, I'm anything but a pro with 3D stuff. Haven't used it since v2.9, that's probably several years... This is the link to the park at 3D Warehouse --> https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/mod...t-MLB-Ballpark By the way the 3D view there isn't working either. |

Try this: https://extensions.sketchup.com/exte...-newer-version
Download their .rbz and import it into your SketchUp through the Extension Manager. It will allow you to open newer version files and save them in the 2017 format. Last edited by trreinhard; 12-30-2025 at 11:30 AM. Reason: - |

Holy cow, that's so much better!
![]() I don't think I would've ever found that extension without your hint, thank you very much! There are still some grey sections, but I might be able to figure out what that's about (only having a quick first look now). Well, then I could potentially try to turn this into a ballpark for OOTP. But that would likely be a quite long road for somebody without the skillset and only very basic knowledge about that stuff lol... ![]() ![]()

Converting 3D warehouse into OOTP isn't always smooth. It may seem like easy job but some things always look out of place or mis-aligned. In my opinion, you need to have gone through the process of making OOTP 3D ballpark from scratch in order to figure out exactly how to "fix" problems when converting a 3D warehouse model.
My recommendation is to check out Silvam's tutorial (I remember he was showing us his Aloha Stadium process). Just begin with a simple ballpark and make sure it works correctly. Then move on to more complex models. It takes time but if you are into ballparks, it's well worth the effort. |

At the moment I'm afraid porting this park to OOTP is too big of a task for a beginner like me. Besides lack of existing knowledge/skills, having enough time for it is a big factor. That stuff rapidly eats up many hours, I guess. It's kinda funny you are responding here, because I'm actually having an eye on your Lowe's Park for a while. I want to start a new game with the Blue Jays and am looking for a custom park for them (pretty much the whole point for all of this). Your Lowe's Park seems suitable for turning it into a Blue Jays park. At the moment I'm heavily favoring modifying/customizing this park, as editing an existing park seems a good way to learn how all of this is working. Although I'm struggling quite a bit with this already... So far I was only able to change the skyline to one with the CN Tower (on the actual 3D model, not only by swapping files). But in-game I can only come up with a very awkward looking crowd, your scoreboard isn't really there anymore, stuff like that... Guess I just have to learn step-by-step what's going on there. EDIT: nevermind the part with the scoreboard, I've thrown the .sl files into the wrong folder lol, it's there now. Last edited by sk78; 01-02-2026 at 02:04 AM. |
