PATCH INFORMATION
Gentlemen and Ladies:
This is the list I have compiled so far that could be included in either the upcoming patch, a future patch or a future version. Please understand that this is not all-inclusive nor does it indicate what will be in which patch when. That is up to the programmer. The first patch will address the "must fix immediately" problems and any minor improvements for which time allows. The first patch will be coming very soon, PROBABLY no later than Monday. We hope to address most of the issues below and some others not on the list by the END OF JANUARY. 1. Add the ability to use No Strategies in all modules but at the very least for the first patch, add the ability to toggle off Strategies in the Tournament Mode. 2. Add the ability to Save a tournament and a Fight Card at any point and continue from that point at a later time. 3. Add missing print routines. 4. List both the fighter's "Age" and "Career Span" to the CREATE FIGHT screen to aid in selecting a fighter's Career Stage. 5. Add sorting capabilities to a Fighter's History. 6. Add fighter's Height and Weight to his Record and Fight data. 7. Add the ability to set more global defaults. 8. Tweak the "swelling formula" 9. Enable cursor keys to scroll up and down a list, rather than have to click on each fighter. (I personally like this one). 10. Show a fighters Total Bouts on his record: add wins-losses-draws, etc. 11. Add the ability to be able to erase ALL fights on an autscheduler, not just one at a time. 12. Add the ability to select Maximum and Minimum # of fights when selecting the parameters for autoscheduling. 13. (FUTURE ADDITIONAL FEATURE): Any fighter who is rated "E" will be subjected to a round-by-round check to see if he boxes or slugs that round. We will give a % chance to each fighter rated that way. Great idea (mine incidentally!) LOL. 14. Add the ability to make the last group of options selected the new Default. 15. Add the ability to make the selections for one corner AUTOMATICALLY the selections for the other corner. Thank you for your continued support, patience and kindness. It is greatly appreciated by all of us on this end of things, believe me. Jim Trunzo Last edited by Jim Trunzo; 12-17-2003 at 10:21 AM. |

All great additions and changes Jim which will be much appreciated.
A couple of points/wishes. I cannot begin to tell you how useful it would be for long term replays to be able to set a fighters career stage and not have it keep resetting to it's prime default. For example if I am replaying John L Sullivan's career I do not want to keep resetting his career stage for the first 15+ bouts from prime to Beginning/pre prime. Secondly I mentioned to you a while ago making fouls weaken the opponent depending on the type of foul, which would put into the game much greater realism regarding fouls, because in real life fighters foul to cause damage or fatigue their opponent. some ideas could be Excessive clinching could reduce the other fighters endurance points (Ali in his later years was a master at this, maybe you would need to base it off a fighters hitting power or agression to represent their "strength" or put in a new category "Strength" to see who gets the upper hand in the clinches and tires out the other). Use of elbows could cause cuts and swellings much like head butts do now (also butts and elbows should count as a punch of 3 to 5 points damage). Thumbing could be represented with various effects such as reduction in CF, Def, or PL. Low Blows and also Kidney punches would obviously reduce END as well as scoring points as a punch, extreme low blows could also increase the fighters chance of being knocked down. Rabbit punches would count as 2 point punches with a small chance of increasing the chance of a knockdown. Backhanding or slapping with an open glove i am not sure about but I am sure others would have some ideas. Punching after the bell would score a 4 or 5 point punch due to the shock effect. I know some of these idas are not easy additions but I feel they would really increase the realism of a fight. rgds Dean |

Jim:
Do either of these items you list as "patch possibles" address the below question posed by djday45 in above post. If not - serious consideration should by given to this post as it seems to be THE most wanted fix. 7.Add the ability to set more global defaults. 14. Add the ability to make the last group of options selected the new Default post bydjday45, For example if I am replaying John L Sullivan's career I do not want to keep resetting his career stage for the first 15+ bouts from prime to Beginning/pre prime. |

I didn't care for the blurry graphics at first, but they are starting to grow on me. If they were sharper, I'd worry about who the fighters didn't look like. The blurring leaves more to the imagination.

I agree...I like the blurry graphics. I suppose you could always use the graphics from Title Bout Quiz in its place, but then you would have fighters not looking right at all and that would take away from the game.
I'm finding myself watching the graphics more than I am reading the commentary lately.... !

Hope about the conditioning ratings that were missing on many fighters. You said you would look into it. Thanks. |

Jim,
Thanks for the heads-up on upcoming patch information. I have a question in regard to the purchase of the game as it applies to the patches. Due to moving at the end of the month of December, I will not buy the game untill the1st month of the new year. When I make the online purchase at that point, will the updated patches already be applied to the download, or must I still do that on my own?? BTW,...from what I've seen, I do like the blurry effect, it puts the minds-eye to work!

Great patch info news Jim! Sounds like a great game will be even better soon. Although this is not a patch request, but in the docs it was mentioned a 32 or 64 man tournament would be added in the future. Do you have any idea how far in the future ?

There are a few things I didn't see on the list that I feel are important:
1. Ability to schedule a fight card with any number of fights (not have to set up all six). The only way to set up one fight is to schedule the fight, but I have to watch the sim. If I'm not interested in that, setting a fight card with one bout and simming it would be great. Does this make sense? 2. Ability to have a tournament winner be crowned a champ in one of the divisions. Could be a great tool for title unifications (like Don King did with Hopkins, Trinidad, Joppy and ... hmm, I forget the fourth guy) 3. I saw that you're going to add the height and weight to the fighter's bio, but it was not apparent that it would actually "mean" anything. Will it affect the sims? For example, largely because of his arm length and strategy to jab, Buster Douglas ripped Mike Tyson apart (not that this would happen everytime though). Maybe that's what adding it to the "Fight data" means? 4. Ability to sort fighters by sactioning body rankings in the fighter select screens. Taking notes can become quite annoying (for me at least...) Other than that, this game is a great start to a cool sim. Hopefully it won't be another year to get the career piece in. If you need another coder... :-) Seriously... |
