I don't have a problem adding Jansen if they are also going to add a swing and miss reliever to the mix. I'm just skeptical of that happening.

Detroit and Boros are $13mil apart on Skubal arbitration number. So long Tarek, it's been fun.

I’m hoping this is classic high/ low negotiating. They have to meet somewhere in between (closer to Skubals number) right? If this thing actually goes in front of an arbitrator that would be a disaster. What are the Tigers actually going to say to justify their offer? That he didn’t go out for another inning in a winner take all game? Yup sure sounds like he gets only 19 million because of it. As Skubal sits across from them putting a polish on both Cy Young Awards. I understand the Tigers don’t want to pay the freight on an extension. I also understand that it is really hard to trade him at this point because you can’t get maximum value for him. Why would a team like the Dodgers, Mets, Yankees or whoever spend prospect capital to get him when all they have to do is wait a year and be the highest bidder and keep your prospects. I just don’t see where the Tigers have any trade leverage here. All that aside though, I don’t understand why it seems like they are going scorched earth on the guy? Pay him the 30 million or whatever it is and let him pitch his tail off for that new contract. Why upset him in the arb process? It just seems so unnecessary.

Eh, all you need is the Dodgers (Yankees, ...) being four games out in July, and they'll call you so often the spammers and scammers will have a hard time getting through to you.

I assume other owners are going to be annoyed if it goes to arb too with it's potential to shatter pitching arbitration precedent

It is going to do that anyway. Skubal has already won this case.

Pitchers and catchers in less than three weeks. How does everyone grade the off-season?
I am in the D+ to C- range. I think there have been some mild upgrades to the bullpen but, that is it.

As of right now a D. I can’t figure out if this is a Harris grade or an Illitch grade. If Harris is told that he isn’t allowed to spend then what is he supposed to do? If Harris does have trust from ownership to do more with the payroll then what he is doing is borderline malpractice.

With the Dodgers doing their best impression of Fort Knox and the US Mint combined... Does it really matter? I'm a lifelond Tigers fan but I would be wearing Dodger blue and complaining to my bank why my app only supports 26 digits when showing my balance

Suarez signs with Reds for one year at Alex Cobb money ($15mil).
Irritation with Harris is bubbling up.

Mickey Lolich passes away at the age of 85. 3 wins in the 68 World Series without ever claiming he was physically & mentally drained.

Skubal won.
Suddenly, this boring off-season is interesting.

No way Skubal was going to lose that case.
