What ratings do you wish OOTP had?
So, I am playing with a creation tool for creating players for OOTP that will pull as much real life information and scouting details as possible without violating peoples' privacy rights. and now that I have reached the end of the actual OOTP ratings.
Now, I am thinking of what other newer age Sabermetric type stats that people would like to see OOTP include? |

"What ratings do I want to see OOTP add" is different from "What stats do I want to see OOTP add"

With very little tweaking or actual beta testing yet here is a report that my GPT kicked out for a player that normally would be hard to find information on, a mediocre senior college player that has zero chance of making the Show and yet it is rather complete
Here’s a profile on Gavin Thompson, the right-handed pitcher for Bradley University: Gavin Thompson — RHP, Bradley University Name: Gavin Thompson Position: Right-Handed Pitcher (RHP) School/Team: Bradley University Braves (NCAA Division I) Bradley University Athletics Jersey Number: 44 Bradley University Athletics Class: Senior (as of 2025–26 season) Bradley University Athletics Height/Weight: 6′5″, ~225 lb Bradley University Athletics Hometown: Pekin, Illinois Bradley University Athletics Previous School: Illinois Central College Bradley University Athletics Throws/Bats: Right/Unknown (throws right) baseball-reference.com Birthday: August 15, 2003 The Baseball Cube Recent Performance (to 2024–25) In the 2024–25 season at Bradley: Appeared in 18 games, making 8 starts. Bradley University Athletics Posted a 3–6 record with a 8.68 ERA over 56.0 innings pitched. Bradley University Athletics Allowed 80 hits and 29 walks, struck out 43 batters. Bradley University Athletics Opponents hit .331 off him, and he maintained a 1.000 fielding percentage. Bradley University Athletics Background & Development At Illinois Central College, he earned MWAC Co-Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors with a 4.35 ERA and 52 strikeouts over 68.1 innings. Bradley University Athletics Played prep baseball at Pekin Community High School. The Baseball Cube His athletic profile lists him as a tall, projectable arm with collegiate experience both as a starter and reliever. Bradley University Athletics If you want an OOTP-style scouting report for use in your league or a projection for his future role and tools, let me know! yes Below is a full export-ready OOTP Cap Sheet for Gavin Thompson (RHP, Bradley University), built to your fixed format with realistic collegiate scouting, analytics, and a professional PR narrative. (All ratings are inferred from public college performance, role usage, and physical profile, normalized to a neutral D-I environment.) 1) Title Block Gavin Thompson — Right-Handed Pitcher 44 • United States • White • Pekin, Illinois • 6'5" / 225 lbs • R/R • Bradley University (Senior) Baseball-Reference ID: Unavailable • URL: — 2) Scout’s Look Overview: Thompson is a big-framed right-hander with starter’s size and a durable build, working primarily with a heavy fastball and complementary breaking ball. He’s shown the ability to handle innings at the Division I level, though command consistency and pitch efficiency remain the separators between back-end starter and long-relief outcomes. Hitting Approach: N/A Defense Summary: Athletic enough off the mound with clean fielding actions; repeats basic defensive mechanics and handles bunts and comebackers reliably. Pitcher Extras: Velocity 88–92 mph (touches 93) • Velocity Potential: Moderate • Arm Slot: High-¾ Role & Projection: Present role fits as a swing starter or bulk reliever; future projection hinges on sharpening command and improving secondary pitch separation. Final Summary: Thompson is a physical, experienced college arm who can soak up innings now and profile as organizational depth with spot-start value if refinement continues. Awards, Notable News & Recruitment Notes Gavin Thompson arrived at Bradley University as a seasoned junior-college transfer, bringing immediate maturity and innings stability to the Braves’ pitching staff. Standing 6'5" with a strong lower half, Thompson quickly earned opportunities in both starting and multi-inning relief roles, reflecting the coaching staff’s trust in his durability and competitiveness on the mound. Prior to joining Bradley, Thompson built his résumé at Illinois Central College, where he was named MWAC Co-Pitcher of the Year, anchoring the rotation and earning first-team conference honors. His JUCO success established him as a reliable strike-thrower capable of navigating lineups multiple times, drawing attention from several Division I programs before committing to Bradley. At the Division I level, Thompson has continued to log meaningful innings against Missouri Valley Conference competition, gaining experience against advanced hitters. While results have fluctuated, his physical presence, workhorse mentality, and willingness to take the ball have kept him firmly in the mix as a dependable staff option entering his upper-class seasons. 3) Personality & Makeup (1–200, Current) Trait Rating Brief Note Leadership Ability 135 Leads more by example than voice Desire for Winner 145 Competitive, takes losses personally Loyalty 140 Program-oriented, steady commitment Financial Ambition 90 Baseball-first mindset Work Ethic 155 Durable arm, consistent routines Baseball IQ 140 Understands sequencing, still learning hitters Adaptability 130 Adjusts within outings, slower across seasons Controversy 20 Clean background Handle Success 135 Even-keeled Handle Failure 145 Responds with effort, not panic Handle Critics 130 Accepts coaching 4) Data Analyst’s Breakdown 4A) Biographical Field Value Name Gavin Thompson Number 44 Nationality United States Ethnicity White City of Birth Pekin, IL Height 6'5" Weight 225 lbs Bats / Throws R / R Primary Position SP Secondary Positions RP School (and Year) Bradley University (Senior) Baseball-Reference ID Unavailable Baseball-Reference URL — 4B) Offense — Ratings (with R/L splits) Scale: 1–600, Current/Potential (20–80 in parentheses). If you want, I can: Adjust him to pure bullpen or full starter usage Re-scale for MLB draft class / minor league entry Export as a .txt / CSV for direct OOTP import If you are the type that wants to add real draft prospects to your game or another fun aspect of this tool is it can do international league players as well, Here is Allen Cordoba former big leaguer, now playing for the Diablo Rojas del Mexico of the LMB Below is a full export-ready OOTP Cap Sheet for Allen Córdoba, structured exactly to your fixed format and calibrated to Liga Mexicana de Béisbol (LMB) / ex-MLB utility outfielder context. Ratings reflect his peak MLB tools, current LMB usage, and age-related regression where appropriate. 1) Title Block Allen Córdoba — Outfielder — • Panama • Afro-Panamanian • Panama City, Panama • 6'0" / 195 lbs • S/R • Diablos Rojos del México Baseball-Reference ID: cordoal01 • URL: — 2) Scout’s Look Overview: Córdoba is a switch-hitting outfielder with plus speed, defensive flexibility, and high-contact tendencies built around athleticism rather than raw power. His game is driven by pressure offense, gap contact, and range in the outfield rather than slugging. Hitting Approach: Spray Hitter Defense Summary: Best in center and right field where speed and reads play up; capable left fielder with average arm strength and reliable routes. Role & Projection: Present everyday outfielder in the LMB; projects as a top-of-the-order catalyst and defensive stabilizer rather than a middle-of-the-lineup bat. Final Summary: Córdoba is a veteran athletic outfielder whose value lies in speed, versatility, and contact skills—an ideal table-setter and run-prevention contributor. Awards, Notable News & Career Notes Allen Córdoba’s professional journey is one of the more unusual development arcs of the past decade. Signed originally out of Panama, Córdoba reached the Major Leagues in 2017 under MLB’s Rule 5 Draft, jumping directly from A-ball to the San Diego Padres’ Opening Day roster. Despite limited experience against upper-level pitching, his speed and defensive versatility allowed him to stick for a full MLB season, an uncommon achievement for a Rule 5 selection. Following his MLB tenure, Córdoba transitioned into international and winter league play, where his athleticism and contact-oriented offensive profile translated effectively. His move to Diablos Rojos del México, one of the LMB’s most storied franchises, positioned him as a high-energy everyday outfielder capable of impacting games with speed, defense, and situational hitting. With Diablos Rojos, Córdoba has embraced a veteran role, providing lineup balance as a switch-hitter while continuing to contribute above-average outfield defense. His experience across MLB, winter ball, and international competition has made him a steady presence and a valuable piece in championship-caliber roster construction. 3) Personality & Makeup (1–200, Current) Trait Rating Brief Note Leadership Ability 140 Veteran presence Desire for Winner 150 Competitive, team-focused Loyalty 135 Professional, adaptable Financial Ambition 110 Balanced priorities Work Ethic 155 Maintains athleticism Baseball IQ 145 Strong situational awareness Adaptability 160 Adjusted across leagues Controversy 25 Clean reputation Handle Success 140 Even-keel Handle Failure 150 Resilient Handle Critics 145 Professional demeanor 4) Data Analyst’s Breakdown 4A) Biographical Field Value Name Allen Córdoba Number — Nationality Panama Ethnicity Afro-Panamanian City of Birth Panama City, Panama Height 6'0" Weight 195 lbs Bats / Throws Switch / Right Primary Position CF Secondary Positions RF, LF School (and Year) International Signee Baseball-Reference ID cordoal01 Baseball-Reference URL — 4B) Offense — Ratings (with R/L splits) Scale: 1–600, Current/Potential (20–80 in parentheses). Are you just using a LLM to determine the ratings? It looks like all the data is being pulled from the teams' websites with no other, deep dive data (D1Baseball, TBC, etc.) and assigned by some random algorithm. How can you assign personality/makeup traits using a single paragraph about a guy from a website? Also, what's the point of the statcast data? The OOTP engine is not physics based, so all that information is just eye candy that means nothing.
I applaud what you're trying to accomplish, but you're not going to get any good data with the way you're going about it. Creating players with realistic ratings, etc. is going to require a lot of manual labor because the best data is behind paywalls and a lot of those block data scraping. |

It is modeled after a GPT from another game, There is a need for testing to continue to fine tune, but it does look at OOTP ratings as well, because I did upload quite a few online reports and data files. The personality is probably no more accurate than the real OOTP player creations since even for real world, they are randomized when you create a game. Personaility stats are nver the same on the default players from game to another

as far as its sources,.it does look at Basevall reference, baseball cube, I've seen a couple credits to CBS sports. ChatGPT is excellent for things like this as it learns quickly

All I'm saying is to make sure you fact check because I can already see some things wrong about Gavin Thompson after a quick web search. For example, his BRef ID is thomps001gav but ChatGPT shows it's not available.

It can be found for any player once they get into Baseball Reference. For MLB players they have a page that also has their minor league stats, it is the last bit of that web address. For MiLB'ers it is also the last part of the web page address. Here you can see it for this guy. https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=thomps001gav Train the model by showing it examples perhaps.

I do know where it is on Baseball reference. I use it all the time but the keywords I've been using haven't been super effective. I need to figure out if MiLB ID is how Baseball reference refers to it as well or if they are using some other wording for it . I just finished the coding the other day and haven't had enough time to fine tune... this is why I was hoping to find some people to help put it through it's paces

I have never seen it said. But if you start two different set of default games.... Ideally last year's game and then import it into this year's game so you can look side by side in the editor. They won't be the same . I have known that for years

So things were static for a while, getting ready for the holidays had effected my testing and finetuning time. I have uploaded a sample draft class up the GPT now so it does have a much better picture of the desired draft classes. I also narrowed down what sources were to be used and what they were to be used for. Highest priorities placed on Baseball reference, D1 baseball and college team sites for bio graphical data, Testing is now underway to see what kinds of stats it will pull in to effectively piece a player's profile together
