UBAR The Winter Ledger - The Season Before the Season, December 1955 (a MUST READ, 28 pages of baseball fantasy) A LEDGER FOR THE AGES The purpose of this volume is not prediction, but preparation. The 1956 season will begin in spring — but the story of that season begins now, here, in the quiet tension of December. For some readers, this will be a directory. For others, an almanac. For a few, a prophecy. For all, it should be read. Welcome to the Association. Next up; NCGA Week 11 Results, "Closing the Season" - Nov. 26 MBA Week 3 Results, "TBA" - Nov. 28 __________________

Some Questions — Humor My Curiosity
Some Questions — Humor My Curiosity
I’ve been posting results and reports from my ongoing Continental Sports Association (CSA) project here for about six weeks now, and I wanted to take a moment to ask for a bit of feedback from those who’ve stopped by. According to the forum stats, the thread has drawn around 1,300 views across 20+ posts which "suggests" about 65 followers, but the more detailed magazines (which I host on FlipHTML5) have shown only a handful of full “reads.” That’s totally fine — I know attention spans and interests vary — but it’s made me curious about what kinds of content people here actually enjoy most. To expand accessibility, I’ve also set up both a Notion page and a Substack site where all CSA materials live together. The idea has always been to build a long-term, multi-sport fictional world, following baseball, football, and basketball in parallel with their real seasons. And for transparency’s sake — my end goal is to transform the 1956 UBAR season into a full novel, combining simulation and storytelling. So, if you have a moment, I’d love to hear from you: Which of the CSA sports interest you most? Do you prefer short summaries, in-depth write-ups, or visual magazine-style reports? Are there things I could adjust to make it easier or more engaging to follow along? Your feedback would be genuinely appreciated — I’m learning as I go, and I’d like to shape this project into something that’s fun to read as well as create. Thanks for humoring the curiosity, — Alan / “AlanOhio”

Since we're coming up on the close of the National College Gridiron Association, I thought I would list all our publications about its season for those that might want faster access to the story...
Week 10; A November Stalemate, https://online.fliphtml5.com/hmabc/fjyr/ Week 9; The Turning Air - When Giants Meet, https://online.fliphtml5.com/hmabc/feuf/ Week 8b; The November Front (Weeks 1-8), https://online.fliphtml5.com/hmabc/vvum/ Week 8; Radnor Rises in the Rain, https://online.fliphtml5.com/hmabc/ucss/ Week 7; Smoke on the Lake, https://online.fliphtml5.com/hmabc/whoa/ Week 6; Engines & Aviators, https://online.fliphtml5.com/hmabc/yfyl/ Week 5; Special Midseason Feature, https://online.fliphtml5.com/hmabc/xgsz/ Week 5 was the first publication. I had been running this league as a personal project before I decided to share it, Week 11 (final week of season) will be posted soon, and Pre-Playoff articles will proceed the two big games; The Liberty Bowl on Christmas Day and the Championship Bowl on New Years Day - both of which will have detailed coverage.

C.S.A., Turning the Page
It’s a little sad to admit, but it seems my idea for a full multi-sport Continental Sports Association just didn’t find enough traction to sustain itself. The thread may show more than 1,500 views, but in reality the FlipHTML5 readership topped out at around seven steady readers.
The truth is, producing something compelling—across multiple leagues, with graphics, schedules, storylines, and publications—takes an enormous amount of time. It’s time I don’t mind giving, but it does sting a bit when there isn’t a growing audience on the other end. A second factor pushed me toward this decision. While preparing the baseball side of the project—running the season, outlining story arcs, drafting narration—my wife, and my daughter (who is a writing critic) read some early "chapters". Both independently told me they thought the material felt “book-quality.” I’ve written a few local history books and more technical instructional work before, but never anything fictional or literary. I’m still not sure I have the chops for it. But the spark caught. So now I’m reorganizing the season I just completed into a potential novel. And if I’m going to give that a real shot, I need time and focus—continuing the CSA thread would only pull energy away from the work that matters right now. To the 7 or 8 regular readers who did show up consistently: thank you. Truly. I appreciated every page-flip and every bit of encouragement, whether spoken or silent. The CSA may not have grown the way I hoped, but it did its job: it helped me rediscover the joy of writing. And for that, I’m grateful. And if the novel ever sees daylight, I promise the CSA faithful will be the first to know—there’s only about seven of you, so it won’t be hard to track you down ![]() Thank you, AlanOhio |
