Everyone's Pitching Staff Became Worthless This Afternoon

Yes, it's hyperbole, but it's not far off-

This PT Elite mission release today was stacked with pitchers who are better than almost every pitcher on your roster yesterday. This wasn't just an injection of a few cards, this was a rewrite of pitching staffs on PT.

Yamamoto, Christopher Sanchez, Aroldis Chapman, Edwin Diaz, Hunter Brown, and Blake Snell are veritably 6 of the top-20 pitchers in the game right now, and adding all-6 would likely be an improvement to pitching staffs of 99.9% of teams out there. It was to mine.

Meanwhile, the batters continue to lag behind. Vlad Guerrero Jr is a fantastic card for a 1B/DH. However, Raleigh's new card is not a huge improvement over the top 5-10 catchers right now. Witt's card is mid, good speed, but otherwise meh. I'm assuming there's going to be a release of PT Elite 3 focusing on hitters soon that's going to rewrite everyone's hitting lineup too?

The drop just changed the game for everyone, and it puts a pit in my stomach. I don't like it. I've been stashing diamond- and perfect-rated live players and only had to spend about 200K PP to rewrite my roster and add the above to my team, and I feel dirty about doing it. It doesn't feel right.

Exactly. Complaining about the hamster wheel is like complaining about death and taxes.

The HG/LD league teams have varied greatly lately, which has been really nice to see. But with this drop being so easily accessible by anyone who has been playing for 3+ months, I'm expecting every team in LD+ to be starting these guys soon if they aren't already. Parity in a game based on dice rolls makes it even more about random chance and even less about team management.

I'm going to let Sandy K pitch till the end of the cycle, besides I'm not getting to Perfect level anyway.

I did add several of these recently, though Yoshinobu Yamamoto got rocked in 2 starts.

Did you

quicksell Miggy and Teddy? But yes, the way pitching closed out the year, it was easier to make the first PTE batch pitching heavy. Fear not, Judge, Soto, and the gang will be coming shortly.

I'm OK with most of what they've done

Campy, Raleigh, Gibson, and Carter are the top 4 catchers in my book. And Raleigh is the only one who isn't a pure RH bat. And we got 4 of the 6 fWAR leading position players - all but Judge and Shohei (Raleigh, Witt Jr., Perdomo, and Turner were 3 through 6).

On the pitching side, aside from Skubal, Skenes, and Crochet we got most of the top starters by WAR, too. I think it's interesting that Yamamoto has two PTE cards. Could that be a trend for the future? I like the Hunters, and Pivetta has a great card. I expect Cease will get a better one, though.

This is just how the game works, anybody on your roster when the playoffs start you might as well sell off because they're not going to be part of any meta by Thanksgiving. Look back at your tournament teams - can you honestly say you're still doing well with your same rosters that were winning you Stars in September at any level?

Outside of Chappy none of the PTE cards have done well for me. Campy, Gibson, Speaker and the like have also been bad. Meanwhile L5 John Anderson / Tinker / Posey keep finding their way back into my lineups and out produce the expensive cards.
