FHM12: Contracted player makes a contract with another team

Hi,

A goalie I moved to my team using the commissioner mode keeps on making a contract with his old team.

I am playing with Jokerit in Mestis, and I have enabled commissioner mode temporarily to move the goalie Veini Vehviläinen to Jokerit (as the latest rosters in the game are not up to date). After moving him (setting the team and contracted team as Jokerit), I disabled the commissioner mode.

Already 3 times suddenly he made a contract with a team in the top level Liiga, even though his contract with Jokerit was valid until 2026.

Now it seems I might have been able to stop that by editing his salary to be ridiculously large.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this really the way it should work?

I uploaded the files in the save folder (but no subfolders) with the zip name as: fhm12_karrik_oct27_contract_issue.zip

Note: I have not tested it in FHM12
Not sure about the relevance, but in FHM 11 there also was a problem, when a player in KHL approx. in September signed a contract with an NHL team, no matter whether anthat team had rights for him. I understand that it is a possibility in real life, when a player dumps his team for a better one, but the frequency was unusual.

I think that's intended behavior, with Liiga teams having a chance to take players from Mestis. Though I'm not sure what the rules are for the leagues IRL. You're from Finland, aren't you? Can you check the rules somewhere and report back?

It's still there in the 12. I agree - it's a problem. I think that it should be limited to signings let's say up to July 15 and tune the frequency down a bit especially in the first season. In the first season it should be eliminated (as there should be an earlier deadline).

No, in the case of Mestis/Liiga, it actually does not make sense that Liiga teams can freely make a contract with any player in Mestis.
Maybe what is confusing is the fact that Mestis can be considered the farm league for many Liiga teams, with several players in Mestis being actually in a contract with the Liiga team, but playing in Mestis for the "farm team".

It is true that players can make different clauses in their Mestis contracts, for instance a clause for being able to break the contract if they get an offer from abroad. Still a Mestis player contract is binding.

I also found the Mestis template player contract in finnish from the SJRY website (The finnish hockey players association). Here it is: https://www.sjry.fi/media/filer_publ...-2027_2025.pdf

In that template the section 7 (7 RIKKOMUKSET JA SOPIMUKSEN PURKAMINEN) touches on the breaking of the contract. I could not find any indication there that a player could break a contract just because of an offer from Liiga, and this section seems very similar with the Liiga template contract. (again, it could be a clause in the contract to be able to get out of the contract, but in my case, there was no such clause in the contract of Vehviläinen).

Thus I think this is a real issue. WDYT?

Yeah, at this point it looks like Mestis players have an out clause for Liiga where they should not. Better to wait for Jeff who can explain the situation better. Perhaps it was introduced in an earlier version of the game for some reason...

BTW - this issue happens also with the latest FHM patch, where the roster update brings the goalie Veini Vehviläinen to Jokerit, without the need to even enable the Commissioner mode. So this definitely is not related to the commissioner mode.

I'll change it so the usual transfer process has to be used to acquire Mestis players by Liiga teams. But should that also be applied to Suomi-Sarja teams?

It confirms that both the old and the new team must be in agreement in order for a player to change to a different team. This confirms that it should be applied also to Suomi-Sarja teams.
