Not sure if a glitch or a setting change between 25 and 26

Hi, up until recently i've been playing in OOTP on an imported 25 save.

In that world which was an historical league, i could in early years just coming out of deadball era i could purchase contracts of minor league players.
I also used to receive scouting reports in my mail box from my scout each month with a summary of scouting changes during the month.


Now i recently started a new game from 26, also a historical league, its 1914 now in my world and i have noticed the following:


I cannot purchase contracts from minor league clubs.


I am not receiving monthly scouting report from my team scout even though i have scouting on, and set, now (it was to normal) to frequent.


I've checked my settings see attached fro scouting?
Am I doing anything wrong?

As for purchase contracts from minors , could not even find anything that remotely looked like it could enable or disable this.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Interesting.. but I don't seem to have that in my League settings financial screen? here is the same screen in my OOTP 26


I also don't think I explained my scouting issue well. I'm not talking about receiving opponent scouting reports.


I am talking about how in my OOTP 25 save on the 1st of each month i used receive an email from my scout showing the list of the players in my organisation and their scouting changes during that month.

Go to the Minor League and then Rules. It's at the bottom of the particular minor league. As for the emails, you are likely not subscribing to them. Try at the bottom of the email page where all the subscriptions are and take a look at what is checked.

Thank you for the help - the purchase contract one is resolved, that pesky one was hiding as shown in the minor league setting!.

The scouting one is still an issue, as i've got everything checked?? I even checked my other long term save my OOTP 25 imported save and it looks the same as these settings and i'm getting the monthly reports of my own team from my scout in that game world/

Yeah, that's a weird one. Even when there's no Scouting you should get a generic one. Are you sure Do Not Disturb isn't on? Or ACT AS? They can often cause hinkyness of this variety.

Act as was set to the team I'm managing which whilst I don't remember setting, doesn't seem like it should be an issue as it's my team?

Would it be worth hitting 'Clean up Scouting Database' and or 'run full re-scouting' is that the equivalent of giving the ole TV a short sharp bang on the side to 'fix it'?

As we go throguh the process of elimination....

Is the game development engine-based or strictly recalc? With no development on during the year, the scout has no development-related changes to report from having observed the team. If it is the report I am thinking of, that may be tied to development ups and downs rather than the the scout revising what he is seeing from a player that technically isn't changing until recalc at the end of the year.

I do have player recalc switched off and the game wired to coaching and development and TCR (125).

It is a new world for me. I simmed from 1871 and have just taken over 1 April 1914 and its now July 1914... my scout has Very high for almost all of my roster, active and reserve. I have heavily focused his efforts on that early on from day one.

Hmm. I was sure my scout had fully scouted my 25 man to full accuracy..and i had been keeping up scouting whenever it dipped below very high..via a view i set up and run regularly to see who's scouting assessment needs updating.

However i just checked and the majority of my 25 are now showing average or high for a couple... when i am sure they were very high... My scout is the same -has not changed.. I'll keep an eye on it.. I am sure i didn't reset my scouting ( 'Clean up Scouting Database' and or 'run full re-scouting')

Also thanks for the help, appreciate it greatly; and am in no hurry to fix.. I can fly blind. interesting the scout development report under info is showing player development changes being picked up there. I'll observe and see if the report notifications return next month now.

Hmmm so thanks to the assistance rendered here, i've now gone and ticked all the boxes in each minor league to enable coontracts of players on unaffiliated teams to be purchased.

i still am at a loss as to why im not receiving my monthly scouting report i was getting in my imported OOTP 25 save game.

i've now ticked all boxes on the mail screen for every type, and will wait for next month to roll around.. but i just don't think that;s going to solve it.
i do seem to be having other random news issues where i have switched off receipt of BNN news items, but yet they still roll on in each day!

It's no huge drama, as i can still access the same scouting information manually via the team reports screen, as per attached screen, but i used to like getting it in my mailbox each month as a scout report in a summarised format.

I just cannot find where to enable it or whether it was just an OOTP 25 save game feature that came across with my imported save to 26, but otherwise doesn't occur for new 26 games? I can't think that's the case though.


But if anyone has encountered this, or has any further potential lines of inquiry, I'm all ears and very much appreciative!

Thanks snepp, but its not this. Although i did try changing Scouting report frequency from normal to frequent to see if that made a different. It did not.

No idea why you aren't receiving your scouting report. With everything you've tried maybe it comes down to something in your install is off? Uninstall/reinstall might fix it? Or on Steam there is the "verify files are installed correctly" option. Right click OOTP26 in your Steam library>properties>installed files. Not sure I'd go to all of that trouble but of course that is up to you.

Here is something you could do within your game. Go to your
team page>Player Development
Upper right corner select "Open Player Development Report"
This will give you a report for your team over the last three months, along with other menu options. If you select "Important Reports" (also an option for "all reports") you will get the players that would be listed in the email, only over the last three months. There is not a one month selection but they are in order and one can just look back to the first of the previous month. Open this report of the first of the month and you'll have your scout report +.

There is also another way to sort your scouting for the previous month on your scout's page.

From here you can select a "since" date. Then build a filter for your team and you get a good bit of info to look over. If you are playing out games day to day you can go so far as to look at this daily and you will be getting a list of your scouted players in real time. The only downside is you have to open each player to see the actual scouting report. But if you open the top player on the list and open his scouting tab, you can then use up/down arrows to move between players and all will be on their scouting tab. Sounds like a lot of work but most days you will only have zero to maybe six players on the list for one day.

Screen shots attached. Note my filter was made to sort for both my club, Chicago, and allow me to choose between league levels. Lots more could be done here, but you get the idea.

May not be exactly what you want but I do hope it is of some help.

Hey thank you so much for taking the time to try and help my weird little issue, and even if i don't resolve now- you've give me some new ways to think about how to systematise my scouting reports for viewing.
