Random freezing/glitching during play

So, didn't see this exact issue brought up so I figured I would post to see if anyone else is having this.

For the last week or so, I've had moments during OOTP play (in all modes, screens, etc.) where the game will decide to freeze up for a prolonged period before resuming. For example, I will simply be moving the mouse around the screen and the game will freeze up, not allowing me to click anything or leave the present screen.

It's very odd and has made playing PT for instance somewhat frustrating because of things like Perfect Draft timing out due to these random pauses.

I've played other games on this laptop without this issue and it does not happen when I use other applications such as internet browsers, streaming services, etc.

I have an older Lenovo IdeaPad Flex and haven't had this exact issue before playing OOTP in any iteration. I wonder if it's just that I need to delete old files or what, but it's becoming more regular. Even if it doesn't crash, it does make me concerned that things could get worse.
