The over saturation of gambling ads is real. I personally do not care if people choose to gamble on sports. I have done it and it simply doesn’t interest me. However, that is me, for others it can be an out of control addiction that could ruin your life and that is sad. Like others have said, the machine doesn’t care, not even a little. What I personally do not like about it is it has changed the way people view sports. It maybe started with fantasy sports but it is in overdrive now. It seems like many no longer enjoy the games and sports themselves. I feel like I’m lucky because I appreciate and enjoy watching games. I don’t have any interest in NFL red zone as an example. I don’t want to just see the scoring plays. I have an appreciation for coaching and play calling that set up the scoring drive as a whole. Same with baseball. I don’t need to see the single pitch that led to some monster homer. I want to see the pitch sequencing for the entire at bat. I want to see how the inning and game unfolded leading up to those moments. Anyway, I’ll step off the soap box now.

The commercials are really annoying. They're everywhere. On the radio, TV, computer, everything. They don't allow commercials for cigarettes, but allow for alcohol and gambling. Why is that?

There are two types of commercials I can't stand, and it's probably because of how frequently they're run. Drug and gambling.

I have lived in Missouri for the last 31 years.

I remember that casino gambling came in, for boats only. Two years later, companies were building boats, and then a moat around them. It was ludicrous.

After several years, casinos were allowed to be built everywhere. I have one two miles from my house.

ALL these casinos were required to give a portion of their revenue back to the state of Missouri, to help fund education. That was the hook. $500M for the kids, in a relatively poor state.

Aaaand that's exactly what happened. All that money went to the schools, and all that money that HAD been allocated to the schools got pulled out, and put back in the bank. Net result was zero.

Now, we get to allow more gambling, this time, on sports.

Gambling disproportionally affects the poor. With no hope for a better life, a powerball ticket is a powerful attraction.

Every gambling advertisement I see - and they're EVERYWHERE - has a disclaimer that if you have a gambling problem, get help. Cigarettes and alcohol have the same sort of warnings...but if you're addicted, you. don't. care.

Watched the replay of the Blues game last night and got to see the ads.

FD Mizzou is only offering $300 in "free" bets for the first $5 bet…when I watch my Kings and Clippers of FD SoCal, the offer is $500 in "free". IMO the whole thing is a scam and nobody should do any such thing, but it's still gross they're short-changing Missouri this way.
