Reply to Annual Plea for Red Sox images (team image)

I don't know if this meets your need for a team image, but I've posted below a newspaper photo showing the 1906 Boston Americans marching on Opening Day in Boston. (The New York Highlanders are in the background.) With the graininess of the image and the angle of the photograph, it would be nearly impossible to identify most of the players.

What is the year of this team photo?

I seen this team photo online listed as the 1901 White Stockings but if I remember correctly, the guy in the top corner was identified as James Durham https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...am#post4316479 who didn't play for them until late 1902 and he is listed as being with Cedar Rapids earlier that year.

That is definitely a 1902 image. Tom Daly, who had played for Brooklyn in 1901, is on the far right of the middle row, and Sammy Strang, who had played for the Giants in 1901, is just left of Daly.

Mystery Met

This film was IDed as Gordie Richardson and, unless I'm badly mistaken, it's not him. Does anyone recognize this mystery Met?

Larry Burright maybe?

Thanks! This will do nicely.

Kyle Skipworth Florida Marlins uniform

He made his debut with the Miami Marlins in 2013 but he was drafted when they were still known as the Florida Marlins. Here are some shots of him in the old uniform.

I agree this is likely 1926. All the players listed save three (Cook, Coleman and Hale) appeared with the club that year. I did my best to look through MiLB records at Baseball Reference for players with those last names who appeared in 1926 but quit after my eyes blurred over. Three players of some prominence with the Sox that year - Jacobson, Regan and Rigney - all arrived with the club beginning in the early part of April, so may have missed this pic which looks like it was taken in chilly weather.

The pic includes Hal Neubauer, who didn't play that year, but I was able to find out that in March he suffered a charlie horse in New Orleans and probably didn't make the club.

I will put it down as 1926 - I know there are some Sox experts out there - any idea if this image is from Fenway or possible spring training? Any idea who Cook, Coleman or Hale might be?

Wood and Freeman will come off my list. I will use the Howard - will keep looking for something a little better, though - as if there is anything out there that is.

Thanks again!

It's Burright... all right.

If this isn't the original, it's the next shot in the session. Spring 1963 or 1964, as shot by The New York Daily News. By the way, if anybody's seen color of him or his teammate and trade-mate Tim Harkness in Met garb at Shea Stadium, kindly post.

Out of interest in respect of all those years that you did not request team images of the Boston Red Sox would it be accurate to assume that is because you already have team photos for the missing years?

The Boston Globe identifies Bob Hale with the club in spring training in New Orleans at Heinemann Park on Feb 22, 1926 (pg. 9). The temperature was reported as 70 degrees. Hale was a pitcher. He was sent to Portland in the New England League before May 11, where he went 1-3 in 7 games.

The January 28 Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA) lists Bole Coleman as a new pitcher for the Red Sox (pg. 2). The Quad City Times reported Bob Coleman, former manager of San Antonio, was signed as a scout and coach by Boston (Jan 5, 1926, pg. 8), as did lots of other papers around this time. This makes me wonder if Bob Hale was supposed to have been the pitcher in the Daily Advertiser.

An article in the Johnson City Staff-News on March 4 (pg. 2) says the Red Sox will have 33 players in camp. A roster published in the New Orleans Times-Picayune on February 14 (pg. 74) stated there were 32 players on the roster, which it included. There was neither a Cook nor a Hale listed, but Bob Coleman was identified as a coach.
