Lock Player Role

Can we get the ability to lock a player to a certain role? I don't find doing the coaching too much fun and I find it tedious to do all the tactics, but I am forced to because my AI coach keeps making my better talent players more of a two way role and giving 3rd and 4th line players offensive roles, therefore those ****ty 3rd and 4th line players are getting 1st line power play time. leading to way less scoring from my best offensive players

This is an old post but please make this a thing. I want to choose the players tactics but the HC always changes my choices.

I personally like the tedious coaching. I feel more involved in the game rather than just simming through it.

And thats totally cool, but I would personally like the option to lock certain players into a specific role for the season. I let my head coach do his thing and I just worry about the GM role. Saying that though, I want the ability to communicate with my coach and give him certain "rules" or "guidelines". Like saying make Quinn Hughes a Quarterback and leave him in that role.

Are you playing FHM12? I believe that the desired outcome can be achieved by setting the manager option for "Set Lines" to yourself and leaving all the rest of the options to "Assistant" aka the AI. As shown in the screenshot below - it'll mean you'll have to sub in an injured player to the lineup every now and then but I'm fairly certain it means he won't change the player roles, not a perfect solution but it'll do what you want.
